Türkiye Awards 785 MW of Solar Capacity in YEKA Tender
The government finalized 11 solar projects to accelerate national renewable energy deployment targets.
1YEKA Tender Results Announced
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources successfully awarded 785 MW of solar capacity across 11 distinct projects. This procurement round, known as YEKA GES-2026, drew significant interest from the private sector, receiving 44 total applications from 19 different companies. Winning bidders committed to €37.9 million in total contribution payments including taxes.
2Fixed Tariff Structure Details
Successful developers gain the right to sell electricity on the open market for the initial 60 months of operation. Following this period, a 20-year electricity purchase agreement takes effect at a fixed tariff of €0.0325 per kilowatt-hour. This structure provides long-term revenue certainty for investors participating in the national energy program.
3Scope of Procurement Round
The government initially aimed to allocate 900 MW across 14 solar projects alongside 1.5 GW of wind capacity. The solar portion of the tender covered nine provinces, with individual project capacities varying between 25 MW and 230 MW. These projects are essential components of the broader Renewable Energy Resource Areas program framework.
4Comparison With Previous Tenders
In February 2025, Türkiye awarded 800 MW of solar capacity across six projects, attracting 146 applications from 67 companies. A subsequent tender in November 2025 saw 77 applications for 650 MW of capacity. That November round notably included the nation's first floating solar project, a 35 MW installation located at the Demirköprü reservoir.
5Solar Installation Growth Trends
Türkiye installed approximately 4.7 GW of new solar capacity throughout 2025. According to data from the transmission system operator TEİAŞ, these additions brought the country's cumulative solar installations to 24.8 GW by the end of the year. This rapid expansion reflects the government's ongoing commitment to scaling up its domestic renewable energy infrastructure.
6Long-Term Energy Strategic Goals
The nation is currently targeting a combined solar and wind capacity of 120 GW by 2035. This ambitious objective is supported by recurring renewable energy tenders and consistent private investment in the electricity sector. These policy mechanisms are designed to accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable and diversified national energy mix.
7Market Participation and Competition
The high volume of applications in recent tenders demonstrates strong investor appetite for Turkish renewable assets. With 19 companies participating in the latest round and 38 in the November 2025 tender, the competitive landscape remains robust. This interest ensures that the government can secure favorable pricing and reliable development partners for projects.
8Impact on Energy Infrastructure
The YEKA program serves as the primary engine for attracting private capital into the electricity sector. By standardizing the procurement process and offering fixed tariffs, the government reduces risk for developers. These 11 new projects will contribute significantly to the 2035 capacity targets, reinforcing the national grid's reliance on clean energy sources.
