Scientific Article Correction Published in Nature Journal
Data and figure corrections made in chemical engineering research
1Scientific Publication Correction Process
A correction was made to a chemical engineering article published in Nature journal. Errors in figure preparation were identified in the original article published on June 17, 2026. Plots in Figure 4b and Supplementary Figure 49a-c,f were constructed from incorrect source files. The correction updated both HTML and PDF versions of the article. Such corrections are routine in scientific publishing to maintain research integrity.
2Corrected Technical Details
The corrections included axis labels and measurement units. In Extended Data Figure 4b, the x-axis unit label was corrected to 's' (seconds) from 'h' (hours). An unmentioned control sample (blue data points) was removed for clarity. Cell dimensions in the metadynamics methodology section were corrected. Original figures are provided in the correction supplement for comparison.
3Research Team and Institutions
The study was conducted by researchers from Tsinghua University's Chemical Engineering Department and State Key Laboratory of Low-carbon Technology. Ziang Xu, Dongcheng Lin and Haoyu Yin were listed as equal contributors. Various institutions from China, UK, France and US participated. Important research centers like Beijing AI Laboratory and Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility were involved.
4Importance of Scientific Collaboration
This study highlights the significance of international scientific collaboration. Researchers from Tsinghua University (China), University College London (UK), Université Grenoble Alpes (France) and Rice University (US) worked together. The interdisciplinary approach combined chemical engineering, materials science and AI. Such collaborations play crucial roles in solving complex scientific problems.
5Post-Publication Correction Processes
Post-publication corrections are an important part of academic integrity. Prestigious journals like Nature have processes to publish corrections when errors are found in published articles. This demonstrates science's self-correcting mechanism rather than undermining research validity. Corrections aim to ensure readers access the most accurate information.
6Research Technical Content
The corrected article focused on cucurbituril-based anion-conducting membranes with supramolecular nanopores. These membranes have important applications in energy storage and conversion technologies. Molecular structures were analyzed using metadynamics simulation methods. The study used an orthorhombic cell of 46.5 × 30 × 60 Å dimensions, which were incorrectly reported in the original article.
7Scientific Publishing Standards
This correction demonstrates the importance of transparency in scientific publishing. Nature journal provides original figures as supplementary information, allowing readers to compare. Accuracy in data and methodology is critical for research reproducibility. Journals promptly publish corrections when such errors are identified.
8Potential Research Impacts
This study could have significant impacts on energy storage systems and membrane technologies. Supramolecular nanopores offer innovative solutions for ion selectivity and conductivity. Corrected data will provide accurate references for other researchers in this field. Led by Tsinghua University, this work reinforces China's leadership position in advanced materials research.
