Simple and affordable accessory protects your MacBook keyboard
Keep your keyboard clean and damage-free with Uppercase GhostCover.
1The keyboard cleanliness challenge
For remote workers, keyboards can get dirty quickly. Food crumbs, coffee spills, and oily fingerprints are common issues. Kayla Solino's MacBook Pro has endured such damage. Even her cat Otis contributed to the mess by sleeping on the keyboard. This situation highlighted the need for a keyboard protector that could prevent such issues effectively.
2Previous experiences
Solino had tried various keyboard covers before but was dissatisfied with their bulky designs and residue left on keys. These experiences led her to search for a slim, high-quality protector. Research on Amazon revealed the Uppercase GhostCover. Unlike previous options, this product offers a user-friendly solution without compromising functionality or feel.
3GhostCover features
The Uppercase GhostCover is a paper-thin, transparent keyboard protector that fits perfectly over MacBook Pro M3 keys. It has a silky texture yet remains unnoticeable during use. The cover doesn't obscure key visibility and features a dedicated cutout for Touch ID. It allows the laptop to close flush without adding any bulk, maintaining the MacBook's sleek profile.
4Ease of use
GhostCover's biggest advantage is its easy removal and reapplication. Shaking off crumbs or wiping away larger spills is simple. Users can remove the protector to clean both the keyboard and the cover itself. This feature contributes to the product's longevity. Solino has been using the same cover for two years without issues, proving its durability.
5Compatibility and varieties
GhostCover comes in clear or tinted options and is compatible with most US ANSI keyboard layouts for MacBooks. It works with M1, M2, M3, M4, and M5 MacBook Pros as well as various MacBook Air models. The cover also fits the newer MacBook Neo (TouchID). This wide compatibility makes it an attractive choice for many MacBook users.
6Price-performance ratio
Priced at just $13, GhostCover offers one of the best investments in keyboard protection. It's recommended to get it before accidents like coffee spills occur. Solino discovered this protector after her mocha latte spill caused the escape key to stick. The product provides an effective solution for preventing similar mishaps and maintaining keyboard hygiene.
7Editor's choice
GhostCover was featured in ZDNET's 2025 guide to favorite tech products by editors. Independent tests and user experiences confirm its effectiveness. ZDNET's recommendations are based on hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. Vendor listings and independent reviews are carefully examined during this rigorous evaluation process.
8Conclusion and recommendation
Investing in tech protection is important for everyone. GhostCover provides a simple yet effective keyboard protection solution. It's ideal for remote workers and frequent travelers. Those with eating habits at their desks or pet owners will particularly benefit. This $13 investment can prevent significant damage and maintain your MacBook's pristine condition.
