TDS Article Formatting Guide: New and Improved Workflow
Step-by-step instructions for content uploading and formatting
1Creating a New Article
TDS's new author platform replaced WordPress in August 2026. Start by clicking the '+ New Article' button in the top-right corner. In the pop-up, enter basic information like title, subtitle, and category. Only the title is mandatory at this stage; other details can be edited later. After reaching the editor screen, you'll need to select a featured image.
2Featured Image Options
Upload custom images via the 'Upload image' button from your computer. Use the media library for previously uploaded assets. A new AI generation feature allows creating images directly - click 'Generate with AI', enter a descriptive prompt, and choose from multiple options within seconds.
3Adding and Formatting Text
Simply start typing to add regular text. New paragraphs default to text blocks. Highlight text to access formatting options like bold, italic, underline, or code style from the pop-up menu. The same menu provides link insertion and alignment tools. Use the text box icon to leave comments for editors.
4Structural Hierarchy and Headings
Use the /heading command to create section headings. Start main sections with H2, subsections with H3 and below. Avoid H1 in the article body. For visual separation between sections, use the 'Separator' block with dotted style (default). Custom separator styles require explanatory comments.
5Lists and Blockquotes
Choose bulleted or numbered list blocks as needed. Press tab to create nested secondary lists. Use 'Blockquote' to highlight key points or lengthy quotes, but employ them strategically as overuse reduces effectiveness. Like bold/italic text, they should enhance rather than distract from content.
6Tables and Code Blocks
Create comparison tables using the 'Table' block - add rows/columns with + buttons and toggle header rows. For code sharing, two options exist: language-specific 'Code' blocks (auto-detection or manual selection) or plaintext 'Markdown'. GitHub Gists can be embedded directly when importing existing work.
7Content Blocks Menu
Press / to access all non-text content types. Navigate with arrow keys to select blocks including images, videos, tweet embeds, math formulas, and custom widgets. Each block has unique configuration options. The streamlined interface makes complex formatting accessible without technical expertise.
8Collaboration Tools
The sidebar's 'Threads' tab centralizes all comments. Tag specific editors using @ mentions. Access version history to review or revert changes. No manual saving required - all edits are preserved automatically. These features enable seamless teamwork between writers and editorial staff.
9Pre-Submission Checklist
Before submitting: verify heading hierarchy, remove unnecessary separators, optimize image dimensions, confirm correct code highlighting. Initiate review via the 'Submit for Review' button. Editors will provide feedback through the same interface, where you can make revisions before final publication.
10New Platform Advantages
The updated TDS author platform delivers a more intuitive experience than the previous WordPress system. Block-based editing simplifies complex formatting while AI integration democratizes image creation. Real-time collaboration tools and auto-save features let authors focus on content. This upgrade reflects TDS's commitment to enhancing creator experience through technological innovation.
