Blackrock Becomes First $15 Trillion Asset Manager, Launches Tokenization Push
Blackrock reports record growth and unveils plans to expand its digital asset business.
1Record Revenue and Growth
Blackrock achieved $7.1 billion in revenue in Q2 2026, up 31% year-over-year, with assets under management reaching $15.3 trillion—a first in the industry. The milestone was driven by $868 billion in net inflows and organic fee growth over 12 months.
2Tokenization Initiative
Blackrock filed two SEC applications for tokenized money market funds. One creates an Ethereum-based tokenized share class, while the other offers digital-native features like daily dividend reinvestment. This aligns with its strategy to target digital wallet holders.
3iShares and ETF Dominance
iShares surpassed $6 trillion in AUM, with $178 billion in net inflows for the quarter. Digital asset offerings, including Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, reached $110 billion. Blackrock aims to grow this segment to $500 million in revenue by 2030.
4Stablecoin and Blockchain Strategy
Blackrock manages $60 billion in reserves for Circle, representing a quarter of the stablecoin market. Tokenized assets are seen as a gateway to 5 billion digital wallets globally. Multi-chain support will enable direct on-chain subscriptions and redemptions.
5Market and Economic Outlook
Larry Fink highlighted tech-driven productivity gains and strong corporate earnings. He noted the rally in U.S. equities and the dollar's volatility tied to Fed policies. Blackrock is also supporting the Treasury's new program with iShares ETFs.
6Next Steps and Optimism
Blackrock raised its 2026 buyback plan to $2 billion and recorded $15 billion in private markets inflows. Fink pointed to record activity in infrastructure and private credit, emphasizing the firm's accelerating growth momentum.
