1Fall 2026 Edition Overview

Shopify has launched its tenth biannual product showcase, the Fall 26 Edition. This release introduces significant updates across payment systems, AI-powered tools, and point-of-sale hardware. James Johnson, Head of Enterprise ANZ, emphasizes that these tools are designed to help Australian retailers navigate complex market pressures while maintaining operational growth and efficiency.

2Advanced Fraud Protection Tools

The Shopify Protect toolkit now features a custom rule builder for merchants to test fraud parameters directly in the admin. By sharing fraud signals across the entire merchant network, the platform identifies high-risk transactions instantly. Shopify Payments currently blocks over 12,000 high-risk payments every minute, providing security at no additional cost to users.

3Expanded Local Payment Methods

New local payment methods like MB WAY, Satispay, Scalapay, and PayNow are now integrated directly into Shopify Payments. These options eliminate the need for separate plugins and are available within Shop Pay. Furthermore, Satispay, Scalapay, and GrabPay now function in-person via Shopify POS, streamlining the checkout experience for diverse international customer bases.

4AI Agent Ecosystem Integration

Shopify Connectors now support nine different AI agents, including ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Merchants can manage inventory, orders, and performance metrics directly through these conversational interfaces. Additionally, the Sidekick assistant has been upgraded to perform complex calculations, write code, and conduct internet searches, though it still requires final merchant approval for changes.

5AI-Powered Shopping Experiences

The new shop.md skill enables AI agents to act as personal shopping assistants, searching over one billion products. Customers can complete purchases using Shop Pay within agents like Meta’s Muse or Claude Duet. Transactions remain secure through tokenized payments via Mastercard, Visa, and Discover, ensuring that sensitive card details are never shared.

6Merchant Control and Knowledge

A new Knowledge base page in the admin allows merchants to curate exactly what information AI agents share about their store. Retailers can define specific facts regarding return windows, shipping destinations, or gift services before data reaches an agent. This ensures brand consistency and accuracy across all AI-driven customer interactions and inquiries.

7Unified Shopping and Checkout

Shop.com now provides a dedicated website for the Shop app, featuring shoppable posts and personalized product sections. A universal checkout allows shoppers to purchase from multiple merchants in a single session. Carts now sync seamlessly between the Shop app and individual online stores, enabling customers to resume their shopping journey across different platforms.

8POS and Customer Recognition

Shopify POS now links in-store purchases to customer profiles when shoppers opt into digital receipts. Data indicates that recognized in-store customers have a 60 percent higher lifetime value than unidentified ones. Additionally, the new recent carts feature allows any staff member to complete a transaction from any device, improving overall store operational flexibility.
