This allows the staircase to function as a vertical spine, maximizing the depth of the plan. ## Fluid Floor Configurations Each floor comprises a sequence of loosely defined, doorless spaces that enable functions to overlap or recede as needed. The ground floor integrates workspace, lounge, and utility areas into a single open-plan studio. ## Dialogue Between Street and Courtyard On the first floor, the kitchen-dining area faces the street while the living room opens onto the rear patio. A balcony connected via spiral staircase creates seamless transitions between interior and exterior spaces. ## Daylight-Penetrating Details Skylights and floor-to-ceiling glazing draw natural light deep into the narrow floorplan. This strategy extends from the stairwell to the rooftop terrace, creating airy interiors throughout the home. ## Modern Interpretation of Azotea The rooftop terrace (azotea) reimagines a traditional Canarian feature used for work, leisure, and gatherings. This project revitalizes the element with contemporary comforts while preserving its cultural significance. ## Programmatic Flexibility for Daily Life The house's fluid configuration across levels effortlessly adapts to changing domestic needs. By reinterpreting traditional architectural elements, the design contributes a distinctive voice to Las Palmas' urban fabric. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.yatzer.com/casa-iriarte-soco-estudio-las-palmas-de-gran-canaria — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
