1Project Scope and Location

The Noida Authority is developing a nine-acre Japanese-themed park in Sector 94, situated near the Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro station. With an estimated budget of ₹14 crore, the project aims to provide a dedicated recreational space for residents of sectors 94, 95, 96, and 97, including those living in the nearby Supernova complex.

2Cultural Design Elements

The park is designed to reflect Japanese aesthetics focused on nature, spirituality, and peace. Key planned attractions include traditional Zen gardens for meditation, Japanese gazebos, and unique dragon-shaped swings. The landscape architecture incorporates waterfalls and small bridges to create an immersive environment that promotes introspection and tranquility for all visiting local residents.

3Timeline and Construction Delays

Initially scheduled for an October opening, the project faced delays after workers went on leave, pushing the target date to December 15. Construction on the site began in May last year. Currently, a team of 40 workers is focused on completing the final landscaping and paving tasks to meet the new deadline.

4Sustainable Landscaping Techniques

Officials confirmed that the park will utilize the Miyawaki technique for its greenery. This method is specifically chosen to establish a dense green cover within a short period of two to three years. The design also features two distinct water bodies, including a central feature with a pathway constructed directly over it.

5Current Site Status

As of a recent site visit on Monday, the park remains under active construction. While the boundary walls and main structures are finished, landscaping work and the completion of paved pathways are still in progress. Loose tiles and construction debris remain visible, indicating that significant finishing work is required before the public opening.

6Safety and Surveillance Infrastructure

To ensure visitor safety, the Noida Authority plans to install a comprehensive network of CCTV cameras throughout the park. A dedicated control room will be established to monitor footage via a video wall. This surveillance system is a critical component of the facility's operational readiness, intended to maintain security across the nine-acre space.

7Operational Utility for Residents

Once operational, the park will serve as a vital hub for outdoor activities including walking and jogging. The inclusion of a dedicated jogging track and various walking paths caters to the fitness needs of the surrounding community. It represents a strategic effort by the local authority to enhance urban living standards through public infrastructure.

8Strategic Urban Development Impact

The Japanese Park project highlights the ongoing efforts by the Noida Authority to integrate thematic public spaces into dense residential zones. By combining aesthetic cultural elements with functional recreational facilities, the project aims to improve the quality of life for local citizens while utilizing modern horticultural techniques to ensure long-term environmental sustainability.
