WildVizag 2.0 Wildlife Photography Exhibition Opens in Visakhapatnam

The Hawa Mahal exhibition showcases Indian biodiversity through the lenses of 25 photographers.

1Exhibition Launch Details

The WildVizag 2.0 exhibition officially opened on Saturday at Hawa Mahal, located on Beach Road in Visakhapatnam. Inaugurated by Divisional Forest Officer Ravindra Dhama, the event coincides with World Wildlife Week 2026. Special guest and Bobbili MLA Swethakumar Rangarao Bobbili also attended the opening ceremony to support the local conservation initiative.

2Scope of Photographic Work

The gallery features nearly 150 unique photographs captured by 25 different wildlife photographers. These images document India’s diverse biodiversity and landscapes, ranging from tigers in their natural forest habitats to various regional ecosystems. The collection specifically highlights wildlife across four Indian states, providing a comprehensive visual survey of the nation's natural heritage.

3Focus on Regional Conservation

Beyond showcasing artistic photography, the exhibition aims to raise public awareness regarding the specific forests and wildlife found within Andhra Pradesh. By presenting these images, organizers hope to foster a deeper connection between the local community and the state's natural resources, emphasizing the importance of protecting regional biodiversity for future generations.

4Interactive Rescue Equipment Display

The Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve team has established a dedicated stall at the venue to engage with visitors. This display features actual wildlife rescue kits and specialized field equipment used in conservation efforts. Attendees can interact directly with staff members to learn about the practical mechanisms involved in field protection and animal rescue.

5Strong Public and Student Engagement

The opening day saw significant attendance from the local community, particularly students interested in environmental studies. Approximately 85 students from Silver Oaks International School and 30 students from St. Joseph’s Women’s College visited the gallery. This high turnout reflects a growing interest among younger demographics in wildlife photography and regional conservation efforts.

6Operational Logistics and Access

The exhibition is hosted at the Hawa Mahal facility on Beach Road, a prominent location in Visakhapatnam. Organizers have scheduled the event to remain open to the public on October 4, with operating hours set from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This timeframe allows for both morning and evening visits by interested residents.

7Context of Wildlife Week

World Wildlife Week serves as the primary catalyst for this event, providing a structured timeframe for environmental advocacy. By aligning the photography exhibition with this global observance, the organizers leverage existing public interest in nature. This strategic timing ensures that conservation messages reach a broader audience during a period of heightened environmental awareness.

8Impact of Visual Advocacy

The integration of photography with hands-on educational displays creates a multifaceted approach to environmental communication. By combining the aesthetic appeal of wildlife images with the technical reality of rescue operations, the exhibition effectively bridges the gap between public perception and field conservation. Such initiatives remain essential for sustaining long-term regional ecological support.
