Piaget Launches Limited-Edition Watch Inspired by Andy Warhol’s Camouflage Portraits
The luxury watchmaker honors the artist with a rare timepiece featuring intricate stone marquetry.
1Artistic Collaboration Unveiled
Piaget has collaborated with the Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts to release a new limited-edition timepiece. Inspired by Warhol’s 1986 Camouflage self-portraits, the watch serves as a tribute to the artist’s personal affinity for the brand. Only 86 units of this specific model will be produced for global collectors.
2Intricate Dial Craftsmanship
The dial features a complex camouflage pattern constructed from 27 individual pieces of sodalite and turquoise stone. This design process required over 100 hours of research, development, and specialized craftsmanship to achieve the desired aesthetic. Satin-finished gold and polished rose gold elements are integrated to provide additional texture and visual depth.
3Technical Movement Specifications
Housed within a gadrooned white-gold case, the watch is powered by Piaget’s 501 P1 caliber automatic movement. This mechanical system drives the dauphine hands and provides a 40-hour power reserve for the wearer. The case back features an engraving of Warhol’s signature alongside the specific production number for each individual timepiece.
4Strategic Brand Partnership
This project follows a 2024 licensing agreement that allowed Piaget to rename its Black Tie watch in honor of Warhol. The partnership grants the maison permission to release one unique timepiece annually inspired by the artist’s extensive body of work. This follows the 2025 release of the colorful Collage model.
5Design Philosophy Explained
Stéphanie Sivrière, Piaget’s artistic director, noted that the goal is to draw inspiration from Warhol’s spirit rather than simply reproducing his works. The collaboration emphasizes a shared focus on vibrant color palettes and the use of ornamental stones. These materials remain a central design element for the brand’s distinctive luxury watches.
6Historical Context of Collection
Andy Warhol was a dedicated watch collector during his lifetime, famously owning approximately seven Piaget timepieces. His personal collection included the iconic Ref. 15102, which served as the foundation for the brand’s modern Black Tie series. This historical connection provides the authentic basis for the ongoing collaboration with his foundation.
7Art Week NYC Integration
The watch launch coincides with Art Week NYC, a major event celebrating contemporary art across the city. Jean-Bernard Forot, Piaget’s Head of Patrimony, will discuss the collaboration and Warhol’s passion for horology. This public talk is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, at the PMC Studio to engage with art enthusiasts.
8Future Collection Outlook
With the 2026 Camouflage model now introduced, anticipation builds for the 2027 release under the ongoing licensing agreement. The series continues to blend high-end watchmaking with pop art aesthetics, appealing to both horology collectors and art patrons. Pricing for the current limited-edition release is available upon request through official retail channels.
