1Redefining the Automotive Showroom

Jaguar has overhauled its Knightsbridge flagship store to serve as a physical manifestation of its new brand identity. Moving away from traditional retail conventions, the space functions as a destination blending architecture, culture, and hospitality. This location currently stands as the only public venue worldwide where the Type 01 electric car is displayed.

2Integration of Culinary Hospitality

The ground floor features Café Eighty-One, a restaurant operated by Michelin-starred chef Michael O'Hare. Designed to foster universal connection, the space uses rich red fabrics inspired by London's iconic brick architecture. This strategic inclusion aims to embed the Jaguar brand into the local cultural landscape, encouraging visitors to spend time beyond vehicle browsing.

3Materiality Reflecting Vehicle Interiors

The showroom's interior design directly mirrors the aesthetic and material choices found within the Type 01 electric car. Designers utilized travertine, tactile textiles, and warm brass to establish a deliberate relationship between the space and the vehicle. These elements emphasize the brand's commitment to craftsmanship, bold contemporary forms, and a cohesive creative philosophy.

4Exuberant Modernism and Color Strategy

Jaguar’s design philosophy, described as exuberant modernism, utilizes color to evoke specific emotions and atmospheres. The choice of deep reds connects the interior to the surrounding Knightsbridge neighborhood, while the lower-level Design Vault employs navy blues for private consultations. This color-coded environment helps define distinct zones for sales, meetings, and vehicle customization discussions.

5Strategic Shift in Brand Identity

This architectural transformation follows Jaguar's recent, comprehensive rebrand, which the company characterized as a complete reset. By aligning the physical retail environment with the Type 01, Jaguar aims to communicate its transition into a new era. The project serves as a tangible touchpoint for consumers to engage with the brand's evolving, electrified future.

6The Role of Spatial Design

Senior manager Nick Rolls led the spatial brand design team in rethinking the purpose of a car destination. By prioritizing sculptural shapes and carefully composed lighting, the team sought to move beyond the static display of automobiles. The result is a multi-sensory environment that reflects the same design rigor applied to the Type 01 vehicle.

7Contextualizing the Type 01 Launch

The Type 01 electric car represents the production evolution of the Type 00 concept, which garnered significant attention in 2024. As the second electric vehicle in this new lineup, it serves as the centerpiece of the Knightsbridge showroom. The store's design ensures that the vehicle is presented within a context of luxury, craftsmanship, and modern innovation.

8Future Brand Engagement Goals

Jaguar intends for this flagship to deepen public understanding of its current strategic pivot. By creating a welcoming environment that combines high-end dining with automotive display, the brand hopes to foster a genuine connection with visitors. The space is designed to help customers view the company through a new lens, emphasizing creativity and bold design.
