A new heatwave is complicating efforts to combat the spreading flames. ## Thousands evacuated Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from areas around Bordeaux. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez stated that the fire is moving erratically towards the city and the situation remains 'very unfavorable'. ## Temperatures rising Temperatures in some parts of France are expected to spike to 40°C from Tuesday onwards. This could further complicate firefighting efforts. ## Pyrocumulonimbus formed The fire in the Gironde region has created a 'pyrocumulonimbus,' a giant firestorm fueled by its own winds and lightning. This makes it even more challenging to control the blaze. ## Wildfires continue in Spain A new wildfire broke out near Valencia, Spain, forcing around 15,000 people to flee their homes. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez warned that 'difficult hours lie ahead'. ## Call for climate emergency pact Spain's King Felipe VI stated that the wildfires have caused 'incalculable' damage to the country's natural heritage.
