This revision consolidates 35 years of collaboration and introduces modern standards for casino operations. The previous 11 amendments are merged into a single document. ## New Regulations The agreement increases maximum betting limits and allows intertribal jackpot sharing. It also paves the way for adding 1,000 new gaming terminals. Public health measures, such as mandatory non-smoking areas in casinos, have been expanded. ## Economic Impact Tulalip Chairman Hazen Shopbell stated the deal will boost the regional economy. Casinos provide jobs and revenue for the tribe while increasing state tax income. The agreement will help sustain tribal public services. ## Responsible Gambling Measures The update strengthens responsible gaming rules, including staff training and self-exclusion programs. Players are encouraged to set personal betting limits. These measures are seen as crucial in combating gambling addiction. ## Approval Process The compact will be reviewed by the state legislature on July 22 and voted on August 28. If approved, it will proceed to tribal and gubernatorial signatures before federal review. This mirrors processes with other tribal agreements. ## Broader Reform Context Other Washington tribes are similarly modernizing their compacts. These initiatives support tribal economic development while maintaining transparency and regulation in the gaming industry. ## Sources covering this story - https://readwrite.com/washington-tulalip-tentative-gaming-compact/ — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
