Claude Code adds iOS simulator to its Mac app
Now you can test iOS apps directly within Claude
1New Convenience in iOS Development
The new feature added to Claude Code's Mac app allows developers to test iOS apps directly in the Claude environment. Users with Xcode and iOS platform installed can now run their apps in a simulator panel and interact with them in real time.
2Exclusive to Pro Plan Users
This innovation is currently available for users with Claude's Pro, Max, and Team plans. Users can launch the app in the simulator, interact with its interface, and observe changes instantly. The simulator panel remains open next to the chat screen.
3Direct Interaction Capability
Users can directly interact with the app in the simulator through tap and swipe gestures. This feature offers additional convenience alongside the standard shortcuts in Apple's Simulator app. The simulator panel continues to work in the background without taking over the screen.
4Setup and Usage Process
To use the feature, Xcode with iOS platform must be installed first. After opening iOS projects in Claude Code Desktop, users can instruct Claude to run or test the app. Device access permission is requested during first use.
5Technical Details and Limitations
The feature currently works only on macOS and in local sessions. Cloud and SSH sessions cannot access simulators on the user's Mac. When accessed through command line interface, simulator screen control is done via mouse.
6A Transformative Step for Developer Experience
This innovation provides significant productivity gains for iOS app developers. Integrating app tests into Claude's chat environment accelerates the development-evaluation cycle and offers a smoother workflow.
