Raiz Invest Funds Reach $2.4 Billion Amid Younger Investor Growth

Australian fintech platform sees rising account balances and strong adoption of specialized investment portfolios.

1Quarterly Growth Performance

Raiz Invest reported a 20.2 per cent increase in funds under management, reaching $2.4 billion by the end of the September quarter. The company recorded $69 million in net customer inflows, representing a 27.8 per cent jump compared to the previous quarter, while the active customer base grew to 354,202 users.

2Rising Average Account Balances

The average account balance climbed 13.8 per cent over the past year to $6,776. This trend indicates that users are moving beyond simple spare change contributions, choosing to build more substantial investment portfolios. This shift reflects growing investor confidence in the platform's ability to manage long-term wealth accumulation for its users.

3Expansion of Kids Portfolios

Raiz Kids portfolios experienced significant momentum, with the number of accounts jumping nearly 25 per cent to 73,957. Total capital invested in these specific accounts surged 42.7 per cent to $132.3 million. Parents and grandparents are increasingly utilizing these tools to provide the next generation with an early financial head start.

4Diversified Investment Offerings

The platform is successfully capturing both entry-level and sophisticated investors. The Lite offering grew by 17.7 per cent in three months, while Plus portfolios attracted $441.3 million. Additionally, Jars portfolios, designed for goal-based saving, saw a 67.2 per cent year-on-year increase, reaching 46,729 accounts as users seek more tailored financial management options.

5Operational Transformation Strategy

CEO Craig Keary is leading a comprehensive overhaul launched in August to refine market positioning and improve operational efficiency. The strategy includes integrating artificial intelligence for customer engagement and exploring potential strategic acquisitions. Despite incurring $500,000 in one-off transformation costs, the company maintained a healthy cash position of $15 million by September.

6Regulatory and Compliance Challenges

The ongoing operational review has identified historical tax compliance issues within the business. Management and the board are currently conducting an external review and maintaining active discussions with regulators to resolve these matters. The company has committed to providing market updates as the investigation and resolution process continues to unfold.

7Future Product Roadmap

Raiz is preparing to expand its investment scope by introducing access to US-listed shares and exchange-traded funds. Following this, the company plans to enable direct ASX share trading for its users. These additions aim to broaden the platform's appeal, allowing existing customers to execute more complex trading strategies directly through their accounts.

8Platform Evolution and Outlook

What began as a simple round-up tool has evolved into a comprehensive wealth management ecosystem. With a solid retail base and rising annualised revenue per user of $86.69, Raiz is well-positioned for future scale. The company's ability to retain and grow its younger demographic remains central to its long-term financial success.
