Apple releases new beta firmware for AirPods Pro 3
New features arrive ahead of iOS 27 launch next month.
1Beta Firmware Details
Apple has released new beta firmware for developers and public beta testers, specifically targeting AirPods Pro 3 and other H2 chip-equipped models. The update carries build number 9A5347a. This comes just two weeks after the company shipped another beta firmware with build number 9A5336b.
2iOS 27 Compatibility
The upcoming iOS 27 release, scheduled for next month, will introduce several new features for AirPods users. Some of these features will be exclusive to AirPods Pro 3. Today's beta firmware includes support for these additions along with other potential changes Apple has in development.
3How to Install
Users who haven't yet opted into AirPods beta firmware can enable it through the AirPods settings screen. While beta software allows early access to new features, it also carries the risk of encountering bugs before the stable version is released to the general public.
4September Event Expectations
Apple's traditional September event is expected to unveil surprise new features for the AirPods lineup. Last year's event introduced Live Translation, while the previous year focused on Hearing Health innovations. Industry watchers are curious about what Apple has in store this time.
5The Significance of H2 Chip
All models supported by the new beta firmware feature Apple's proprietary H2 chip. This chip enables higher audio quality, reduced latency, and optimized battery life. The H2 chip also serves as the foundation for implementing new features that require advanced processing capabilities.
6Refurbished Product Opportunity
Apple is offering a 15% discount on certified refurbished AirPods models. This campaign provides a budget-friendly alternative for users wanting to test the new beta firmware. Refurbished products come with the original warranty, making them a reliable choice for cost-conscious consumers.
7User Feedback Collection
Apple is actively gathering feedback from beta testers about new feature performance and potential bugs. User comments play a critical role in shaping the final stable release. This crowdsourced testing approach helps Apple refine software before wide distribution.
8Market Position
Apple's AirPods continue to dominate the wireless earbuds market. Regular firmware updates and feature additions extend product lifespan while boosting customer loyalty. This strategy proves essential for maintaining competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving industry.
