Google Pixel 11 and Watch 5 Launch: Expectations and How to Watch
Final details and live stream information for the new Pixel series and smartwatch.
1Launch Overview
Google will unveil the Pixel 11 series and Pixel Watch 5 on August 12. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube. Comedian Trevor Noah will host, with appearances by celebrities like Stephen Curry. The Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and foldable Pixel 11 Pro Fold are expected, along with the new smartwatch. Last year's Pixel 10 Pro Fold scored 8.3 in reviews.
2Design and Hardware
The Pixel 11 series is not expected to feature major design changes. Leaks suggest the same design DNA since the Pixel 9 series. New hardware like the Tensor G6 chipset is anticipated, though graphical performance lags behind competitors. The base model may standardize 256GB storage. All models are expected to see a $100 price increase.
3New Features
The Pixel 11 series will include a new notification light called 'HiLight' on the back. It will light up when favorite contacts call or when talking to Gemini. On the software side, Gemini Intelligence features announced at Google I/O will stand out. All devices will come with Android 17. Pixel phones have always led in showcasing Google's latest AI advancements.
4Pixel Watch 5 Expectations
The Pixel Watch 5's design is expected to remain unchanged from previous generations. The design, consistent since the first Pixel Watch, is well-liked. Leaks revealed images of a device allegedly found underwater by divers. Upgraded internals are expected, but performance gains are unclear. A price increase similar to the Pixel 11 series is anticipated.
5Surprise Products
Google may introduce the Pixel Tag, a Bluetooth tracking device to rival Apple's AirTag. Leaked images on 9to5Google show a small, oblong tracker. Whether it will support Ultra-Wideband remains unknown. Additionally, brands like Warby Parker and Gentle Monster are expected to release Android XR glasses.
6Pricing and Availability
All Pixel 11 models are expected to see a $100 price increase. Global RAM shortages and competitors like Samsung raising prices influenced this decision. The Pixel Watch 5 may also see a similar price hike. No official release date has been announced, but devices are expected to hit the market shortly after the launch.
7Technology and AI Focus
Google's priority is enhancing on-device AI capabilities. Tensor chips are designed to deliver raw computational power. The Pixel series leads in showcasing Google's latest AI innovations. Gemini Intelligence features, announced at Google I/O, will stand out in the Pixel 11 series. Despite lagging in AI, Google's focus is clear.
8Conclusion and Importance
Google's Pixel 11 and Watch 5 launch will have a major impact on the tech world. New features and hardware aim to enhance user experience. Despite price increases, the Pixel series' loyal fanbase will follow these innovations. The event offers a key opportunity to understand Google's AI and hardware strategy. The livestream is a must-watch for those eager to see all the details.
