La Vigilia Winery: Harmony of Architecture and Nature
This wine production facility in Argentina blends modern architecture with natural landscape.
1Project Philosophy
La Vigilia Winery is built on a finely calibrated relationship between volumes. The use of materials, light and shadow creates a transition between the vast landscape and the serene interior of the wine production process. Spread over 1,700 square meters, the project offers an experience beyond industrial architecture. Modern materials like steel and concrete are used in harmony with natural stones.
2Architectural Details
The design team, led by Charly González Olsina and Eduardo Vega, approached the winery as a 'temple'. Silence and serenity are prioritized in the interior spaces. With contributions from landscape architect Eduardo Vera, the structure integrates seamlessly with the surrounding natural texture without disrupting it. Project management was handled by Integra CPM, while construction was carried out by GR Housing.
3Material Choices
Products from brands like ASPEN Lumiere, Arquimetal and Hipercerámico were used in the structure. The material palette features natural stones alongside steel and concrete. These choices emphasize the precision of the wine production process while also addressing durability and aesthetic concerns. Particularly, light-transmitting materials create a special atmosphere in the interior.
4Location and Environment
Located in the Los Chacayes region, the winery sits in one of Argentina's famous wine production areas. The project was designed to harmonize with the surrounding natural landscape. Large windows and strategic openings allow enjoyment of the views from interior spaces. This approach offers visitors both wine culture and the region's natural beauty simultaneously.
5Design Team
Lead architects Charly González Olsina and Eduardo Vega are well-known names in Argentina. Other team members include Cecilia Blanco, Nicolás Telechea and Bianca Brescia. The design process balanced the technical requirements of wine production with aesthetic concerns. This approach resulted in a space that is both functional and visually impressive.
6Construction Process
Completed in 2022, the project was built on approximately 1,700 square meters. GR Housing handled construction while Integra CPM managed the project. The industrial character of the structure is emphasized through material choices and detail solutions. Particularly, steel structures and reinforced concrete systems ensure the winery's longevity.
7Photographic Presentation
Photographs by Luis Abba highlight the project's architectural qualities. The images emphasize material textures, light-shadow play and spatial balance. Especially the use of natural light in interior spaces transforms the wine production process into almost a ritual. This visual narrative strengthens the project's architectural value.
8Architecture and Wine Culture
La Vigilia Winery exemplifies how architecture can elevate the wine production process. Beyond being just a functional production facility, the project was designed as a space dedicated to wine culture. This approach offers visitors an unforgettable experience while contributing to the region's wine tourism. The architectural design has become a tool reflecting the soul of wine.
