The new smartwatch will feature 64GB storage and run on WearOS 7. Both 41mm and 45mm models will have IP68 dust and water resistance. The leak reveals significant details about battery life and AI-powered features, giving consumers an early look at Google's next wearable. ## Storage capacity doubled Pixel Watch 5 will come with 64GB storage across both size variants, doubling the capacity of its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 4. This expanded storage will allow users to store more apps, music, and data. The increased space will also enable smoother operation with Google's new WearOS 7. The upgrade addresses one of the main limitations noted in previous Pixel Watch models. ## Battery life improvements The 41mm model will feature a 332mAh battery offering 30 hours of use (48 hours with battery saver), while the 45mm version gets a 465mAh battery good for 40 hours (72 hours in battery saver mode). Although battery capacities have increased compared to Pixel Watch 4, Google has maintained the same estimated usage times. Both models will support fast charging for quick power top-ups. ## Gemini assistant and proactive suggestions Pixel Watch 5 will introduce Gemini, a new AI assistant that 'anticipates your needs and delivers helpful information at just the right moment.' The watch will also feature Proactive Suggestions that recommend 'context-aware replies based on your conversation.' These features represent Google's continued investment in AI technology for wearables, aiming to make the smartwatch experience more intuitive. ## Enhanced health tracking features Pixel Watch 5 retains the automatic emergency call feature when it detects loss of pulse, though Google notes this isn't intended for those with preexisting heart conditions. The watch boasts 'our most accurate sleep tracking yet,' providing a sleep score that considers time spent in each sleep stage and breathing rate. However, it notably lacks sleep apnea detection available on competing devices. ## Comparison with Apple Watch Pixel Watch 5 won't include sleep apnea detection available on Apple Watch, showing Google's more cautious approach to health features. However, its 64GB storage doubles the base storage of Apple Watch Series 9 (32GB). This storage advantage could appeal to users who want to carry more media on their watches without relying on cloud services or frequent syncing. ## Design and durability Pixel Watch 5 isn't expected to bring major design changes, maintaining a similar look to previous models with premium materials. The IP68 rating ensures protection against dust and water during daily use and light water activities. Google will likely expand its watch band ecosystem with new options. The familiar circular design with minimal bezels continues Google's distinctive wearable aesthetic. ## Official launch imminent Pixel Watch 5's final specifications and pricing will be officially revealed at the Made by Google event on the second Wednesday of August 2026. This event will confirm the accuracy of the leaked information. As Google's flagship wearable, the Pixel Watch 5 represents a crucial product for expanding the company's presence in the competitive smartwatch market and advancing the WearOS ecosystem. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.androidpolice.com/major-pixel-watch-5-leak-details-battery-life-specs-and-features-ahead-of-launch/ — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
