Kith and New Balance Unveil Monuments Collection Inspired by NYC Landmarks
The 2011 silhouette returns in three distinct colorways celebrating New York City architecture.
1Anniversary Collection Launch
Kith and New Balance are collaborating on the 2011 silhouette to celebrate Kith’s 15-year anniversary. This collection, titled Monuments, features three unique colorways that pay homage to iconic New York City landmarks. The release is scheduled for November 9 and will be available exclusively through Kith retail channels and their digital platforms.
2Custom Architectural Design
Unlike standard collaborations that adapt existing lasts, Kith built the 2011 upper from the ground up using a layered, multi-piece pattern. The design sits atop the ABZORB midsole unit, a component originally developed for the New Balance 2002. This combination ensures a familiar, cushioned ride while maintaining a distinct, custom aesthetic profile.
3Maroon and Atomic Yellow
The Maroon Atomic Yellow pair draws inspiration from the 2014 Ronnie Fieg for New Balance 530 release. It features perforated nubuck base layers with leather overlays and quilted stitching on the vamp and collar. A debossed 2011 graphic covers the heel, while silver-flecked laces provide a subtle shimmer to the overall design.
4Amazon and Lilac Palette
The Amazon Lilac iteration utilizes a bold color-blocked approach constructed from suede overlays on top of suede underlays. The design incorporates reflective N-logos on both lateral and medial walls for visibility in low light. Dual branding from New Balance and Kith appears on the tongue and heel, with 2011 hits on the ankle.
5Princess Blue and Silver
The final pair in the collection, Princess Blue Silver, features a breathable mesh base accented by vibrant suede overlays. Orange accents on the eyelets and N-logos create a sharp contrast against the cool blue palette. Like the other models, it includes co-branded tongue details and specific 2011 branding on the lateral heel.
6Packaging and Presentation
All three pairs in the Monuments collection arrive in specialized New York to the World packaging. Each set includes a custom-designed sockliner and an additional set of laces to allow for personalization. These details reflect the premium positioning of the collaboration, emphasizing the narrative connection between the footwear and city landmarks.
7Technical Material Choices
The collection highlights a diverse range of materials, including perforated nubuck, suede, and breathable mesh. By utilizing different textures across the three colorways, the designers emphasize the versatility of the 2011 silhouette. These material choices are balanced by the consistent use of the ABZORB midsole, ensuring performance remains uniform across all versions.
8Strategic Brand Positioning
This release serves as a significant milestone for Kith, reinforcing its long-standing partnership with New Balance. By anchoring the design in New York City history, the brand strengthens its cultural identity. Collectors and fans are encouraged to monitor Hypebeast Drops to track the release and secure pairs from this limited anniversary run.
