Ukrainian Firm Develops High-Speed Interceptor Drone to Hunt Russian Jet-Powered Shaheds
P1-Sun JetKiller designed to intercept Russian drones at speeds up to 230 mph.
1Next-Gen Drone Hunter
Ukrainian defense company SkyFall has developed the P1-Sun JetKiller to counter Russia's jet-powered Shahed drones. Capable of reaching 370 km/h, the interceptor can operate at altitudes up to 9,000 meters for 15 minutes. With a 500-gram explosive payload, it can be equipped with cameras for day/night operations.
2Speed Superiority
The JetKiller's design specifically targets Russia's new Geran-3 drones that reach 200 km/h. Ukraine's previous interceptors were built against propeller-driven Shaheds at 185 km/h. Achieving such speeds required advanced cooling systems and aerodynamic refinements to prevent overheating.
3AI-Powered Targeting
The drone features an AI-based terminal guidance system that activates during final approach. This technology can detect and lock onto targets within 1 km range faster than human operators. Similar AI targeting systems have been increasingly deployed in Ukrainian drones this year.
4Battlefield Proven
SkyFall spokesperson Ares confirmed the JetKiller has already destroyed over a dozen 'jet threats.' The drone has demonstrated successful intercepts and is transitioning to mass production, with a target of 50,000 units monthly starting August.
5Russia's Drone Arsenal
Ukrainian intelligence reports Russia fields at least three types of jet-powered attack drones, including the Geran-5 capable of 600 km/h. Kyiv has prioritized cost-effective counter-drone technologies to neutralize these evolving threats.
6Game-Changing Defense
The JetKiller fills a critical gap in Ukraine's air defense strategy. Mass production of domestic high-speed interceptors could significantly reduce Russia's loitering munition advantage. Other Ukrainian manufacturers are developing similar counter-drone solutions.
