The series about menopausal women's struggles has garnered critical acclaim.
1Critically Acclaimed Series
Riot Women has already become a critics' favorite with a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Originally aired on BBC One in late 2025, the show made a significant impact in the UK. Directed by Sally Wainwright of Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack fame, it portrays the stories of women going through menopause.
2The Five Women at the Core
Kitty, Beth, Jess, Holly, and Yvonne are the five central characters. They deal with unappreciative children, aging parents, and daily challenges while navigating the physical and emotional changes of menopause. The series captures their feelings of invisibility in society during this transitional period.
3Rebellion Through Rock Music
The characters channel their frustrations by forming a rock band. They express themselves through powerful guitar riffs and drum solos. Behind their sharp tongues often lie genuine pains. The group is determined to speak their truths, regardless of who's listening.
4Director's Personal Touch
Sally Wainwright infused the project with her own experiences in her fifties. She approaches hormonal changes with humor and resilience. Wainwright provocatively stated, 'If men experienced menopause, there would already be a cure.' The show has already been renewed for a second season.
5Intensive Preparation for Musical Scenes
Despite having no musical background, the cast spent six months learning their instruments. Wainwright refused to use stand-ins for musical performances. Rosalie Craig (Kitty) was the exception, having played Arwen in The Lord of the Rings musical in 2007. The actors' dedication earned them praise on set.
6Quick Renewal by BBC
The BBC greenlit a second season before the first even aired, showing their confidence in the project. Riot Women premiered on BBC One on October 12, 2025. After breaking rating records in the UK, the series is attracting strong international interest for distribution rights.

The show will make its Turkish debut on Téva on Saturday, July 25, 2026, during prime time. Riot Women, described as a musical version of Desperate Housewives, aims to attract viewers who enjoy British dramas. The series promises to be a standout in summer programming.
8Powerful Message of Female Solidarity
