New in Air: Claude Subscriptions and Multiproject View
Air introduces Claude integration and new features for enhanced productivity.
1Claude Subscriptions Now Available in Air
Air now integrates seamlessly with Claude Pro, Max, and Team subscriptions. Users can utilize their subscription quotas without needing to purchase API credits. Air does not see or store user credentials, ensuring security through Anthropic's documented authentication method. This integration prioritizes user account safety.
2First-Party Integration with Claude Agent
The Claude Agent in Air offers a first-party integration, allowing users to select models, use slash commands, and manage permissions and session states. Usage and status reporting are also available. Users who previously connected Claude via ACP are encouraged to switch to this new integration for enhanced functionality.
3API Billing Required for Docker Environments
Claude Agent cannot run in Docker environments without API billing or JetBrains AI credits. This limitation arises because the subscription token remains with Claude on the user's machine, and Air does not hold a copy. Isolated containers thus require API billing or JetBrains AI credits for operation.
4Multiproject View Boosts Efficiency
Air's new multiproject view enables users to manage multiple projects within a single window. The sidebar groups tasks by project, and search covers the entire task list. This feature shifts navigation in Air from windows to tasks, allowing users to track agents across different projects seamlessly.
5Markdown Files Now More Readable
Air renders .md files with clear heading hierarchy, formatted lists, and distinct code blocks. Syntax highlighting is available for commands, paths, and inline code. This enhancement makes READMEs, plans, notes, and documentation easier to scan without parsing formatting first.
6Advantages of Using Claude Subscriptions
The primary advantage of using Claude subscriptions in Air is access to all features of the Claude plan without additional setup or payment. Models, quotas, and limits apply in Air as they do elsewhere. However, the design ensures the token stays on the user's machine, limiting usage outside of it.
7Air's Free and Flexible Structure
Air's desktop version is free, and users can bring their own subscriptions from external AI providers. Air does not charge extra for this usage, offering flexibility for users to integrate their preferred AI solutions with the platform.
