Vertically Organized House in Bangkok: Pridi41 House

Designed by Anonym Studio, Pridi41 House combines privacy and natural comfort in a dense urban setting.

1A Refuge in the Dense City

Designed by Anonym Studio, Pridi41 House is located in a dense residential area of Bangkok. Situated on an 800-square-meter corner plot, the house is carefully designed to protect against the gaze of surrounding low-rise housing and a 20-meter-high apartment building. The design ensures privacy, natural ventilation, daylight, and thermal comfort.

2Vertical Organization

The house is organized vertically around a central circulation core containing the elevator and staircase. The ground floor houses shoe storage, general storage, a Thai kitchen, system rooms, staff accommodation, and parking for six to eight vehicles. The main living areas are elevated to the second floor, separating them from the street.

3Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Connection

The living room, dining area, kitchen, fitness room, swimming pool, and terraces on the second floor create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. A large outdoor living terrace allows interior spaces to open directly onto landscaped areas. The swimming pool spans almost the entire length of one side of the house.

4Daylight and Privacy

To avoid overlooking from the neighboring apartment building, the design team positioned storage and service areas along the southern edge of the house, creating a buffer for the primary living spaces. Other rooms are oriented northward for open views and improved daylight. The double-height living room visually connects to activity areas on the third and fourth floors.

5Passive Design Strategies

Although the main living spaces are above ground level, the house employs passive environmental strategies. Building orientation, cross ventilation, landscaped outdoor areas, and carefully positioned voids regulate daylight, airflow, and temperature. Perimeter walls and the arrangement of building volumes protect the interior while maintaining visual connections to the landscape.

6Materials and Details

The house uses a combination of natural stone and wood to achieve warmth and tactile quality. Natural materials in the master bedroom enhance comfort and warmth. The exterior wall is designed as a protective layer, ensuring privacy while framing views to the outside.

7Pool as Visual Focus

The swimming pool serves as a visual focal point, visible from almost every space within the house. It runs alongside the living room, fitness room, and outdoor dining area, creating continuous visual connections with the interior. This also contributes to natural ventilation in shared spaces.

8Adapting to Urban Life

Pridi41 House explores how spatial organization, passive environmental design, and landscape can come together in a dense urban site. This design balances privacy, openness, and thermal performance in a multigenerational family home. The interplay of light, shadow, and water enriches the architectural experience, creating a dynamic atmosphere.
