The 3D facial recognition system uses the same infrastructure as iPhone's Face ID and unlocks your door in less than a second. ## Models and Pricing The Lock Vision at $169.99 offers basic features, while the $229.99 Pro model adds palm vein recognition and a fingerprint sensor. Both models work with geofencing, app control, and voice commands. ## Unique Security Features The face recognition system works with 20,000 infrared dots and has a false recognition rate of less than 0.0001%. The system works in complete darkness and resists photo/video spoofing attempts. ## User Experience Users don't even notice the lock opening thanks to the motor's fast response. Unlike traditional smart locks, SwitchBot's quick motor doesn't make users wait. ## Design and Durability The black zinc alloy exterior has IP65 water and dust resistance. The lock operates between -20 to 55°C and is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions. ## Interior Unit Details The 218-gram interior unit stands out with its lightness. Users only touch it for manual locking/unlocking, making weight less important in daily use. ## Geofencing Feature When your phone approaches home, the lock automatically arms itself. It unlocks when Bluetooth connection is established. The system only works when entering, preventing false triggers. ## Battery Life and Power Management A three-tier battery system minimizes lockout risks. mmWave radar technology prevents unnecessary sensor activation, extending battery life. ## Setup and Compatibility The lock pairs with a 2-second press, or 15 seconds for Matter protocol. It works without requiring any hub. ## Family Usage Auto-unlock only works for owners and admins. Family members can use palm vein recognition or fingerprint authentication. ## Drawbacks Motor noise might be disturbing near bedrooms. The price difference for Pro model's extra features may seem high for some users. ## The Future of Door Locks The SwitchBot Lock Vision Series sets a new standard in smart lock technology. Combining security, comfort and ease of use, this product stands out as a groundbreaking step in home automation. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.yankodesign.com/2026/07/14/switchbot-lock-vision-series-review-face-id-for-your-front-door/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=switchbot-lock-vision-series-review-face-id-for-your-front-door — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
