While the flagship X11L debuted at the January CES event, industry analysts have identified the QM8L as the top-performing set. This model balances high-end technical specifications with a competitive position within the company's broader 2026 lineup. ## Expert Consensus on QM8L Reviewers at CNET and Business Insider consistently praise the QM8L for its exceptional picture quality. Despite intense competition from established brands like Samsung, Sony, and LG, the QM8L stands out due to its high brightness levels and precise contrast. RTings also recognizes the unit as the premier mid-range option within TCL's current catalog. ## Advanced Display Technologies The QM8L achieves its visual performance through proprietary SQD-Mini LED technology, combining Super Quantum Dots with mini LED backlighting. To maintain image integrity, TCL implemented the Halo Control system, which effectively mitigates backlight bleed. These hardware innovations allow the display to deliver vibrant colors while ensuring deep blacks and high-contrast scenes for viewers. ## Brightness and Panel Specs The television features a 4K advanced WHVA panel capable of reaching peak brightness levels up to 6,000 nits. With 4,000 local dimming zones, the set provides superior light control across the screen. Furthermore, the panel supports wide viewing angles of 178 degrees and is compatible with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ streaming formats. ## Gaming Performance Capabilities Gamers benefit from a 144 Hz refresh rate, which ensures smooth motion during high-intensity gameplay. The inclusion of variable refresh rate technology minimizes screen tearing for a seamless visual experience. These features are supported by four HDMI 2.1 ports, including one eARC connection, facilitating high-bandwidth connectivity for modern gaming consoles and high-end PCs. ## Market Availability and Pricing The QM8L is currently available for purchase through major retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. Consumers can choose from four screen sizes: 65, 75, 85, and 98 inches. The starting price for the series is $2,499.99, though promotional discounts are frequently applied to these variants, offering potential savings for savvy buyers. ## Positioning Within Product Hierarchy While the QM8L is widely considered the best overall choice, it occupies a specific tier below the flagship X11L and RM9L models. This strategic placement allows TCL to offer premium features like advanced dimming and high refresh rates to a broader segment of the market without reaching the flagship's higher price point. ## Technical Connectivity and Inputs Beyond core display features, the QM8L includes comprehensive connectivity options for home theater integration. The device is equipped with Ethernet, optical digital audio, and an RF input. Two USB-A ports, consisting of one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 interface, provide additional flexibility for external media storage and peripheral device support. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.slashgear.com/2293793/best-tcl-tv-in-2026/ — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
