JCR Welcomes New Co-Editors
A new era begins in consumer research.
1Appointment of New Editors
The Journal of Consumer Research (JCR) announced the addition of Ellie J. Kyung and Daiane Scaraboto as new Co-Editors. These appointments were made in response to a record number of submissions and unexpected changes in the editorial team over the past year.
2Role of Ellie J. Kyung
Ellie J. Kyung, a Professor in the Marketing Division at Babson College, focuses on how memory and mental representations shape consumer decisions. Specializing in the impact of AI on consumer behavior, Kyung will contribute to the timely and thorough evaluation of submissions at JCR.
3Contributions of Daiane Scaraboto
Daiane Scaraboto, a Professor of Marketing at the University of Melbourne, is known for her work on consumer collaboration and sustainability. Scaraboto examines how marginalized consumers can achieve greater inclusion in markets and create value on online platforms.
4Changes in the Editorial Team
The JCR editorial team experienced a significant loss with the passing of Co-Editor Giana M. Eckhardt in 2026. Markus Giesler temporarily filled the role, and now the team is strengthened with the addition of Kyung and Scaraboto.
5Increase in Submissions
JCR received a record number of submissions last year, particularly in studies focusing on consumer interaction with technology. The new editors will play a critical role in managing this surge.
6The Future of JCR
With the addition of new editors, JCR aims to enhance its publishing process in consumer research. These appointments are seen as a significant step toward increasing the journal’s academic impact.
