The edge panel on Android phones offers a feature similar to the taskbar on foldable screens. It provides quick access to frequently used apps and stays hidden on the side of the screen. Available on Samsung and Motorola devices, this feature is notably absent on Pixel phones. ## Usage Benefits The edge panel is a significant convenience for users, accessible from any screen. It enables quick app switching, multitasking management, and instant access to frequently used tools. Samsung's additional panels further enhance its functionality. ## How to Enable It To enable the edge panel on Samsung phones, navigate to Settings > Display > Edge Panels. Here, you can turn it on, customize its position and appearance. The Good Lock app offers even more personalization options. ## Other Brands' Offerings Brands like Motorola and OnePlus also offer similar edge panel features. On Motorola, go to Settings > Gestures > Sidebar, while on OnePlus, use Settings > Accessibility & Convenience > Smart Sidebar to activate this feature. ## Missing on Pixel Phones Google's Pixel phones lack the edge panel feature, which is seen as a significant drawback by many users. Third-party apps provide similar functionalities but aren't as seamless as a built-in feature. ## Future Expectations Future updates like Android 17 and One UI 9 are expected to further enhance the edge panel feature. Google's adoption of this feature on Pixel phones would significantly improve user experience. For now, Samsung and other brands lead in this area. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.androidcentral.com/phones/samsung-galaxy/this-underrated-samsung-feature-is-the-first-thing-i-set-up-on-any-new-android-phone-except-pixels — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
