1Compact Design Strategy

Jackery has introduced the Explorer 100D, its smallest power station to date, measuring just 4.67 by 3.25 by 3.37 inches. By removing the AC inverter, the company eliminated bulky cooling fans and heat-generating components. This design choice allows the device to maintain a portable, desk-friendly form factor while weighing only 1.87 pounds.

2Airline Travel Compliance

The 96Wh battery capacity is strategically positioned just below the FAA's 100Wh threshold for lithium-ion batteries. This engineering decision allows travelers to carry the unit on airplanes without requiring special airline approval. It provides a significant energy reserve for laptops and phones while remaining fully compliant with strict international aviation safety regulations.

3Advanced Display Interface

A front-facing TFT display provides real-time tracking for input and output wattage, battery levels, and internal temperature. Users manage all functions through a single button, including a specialized Low-Power Charging Mode. This specific mode ensures that smaller devices like earbuds or smartwatches continue receiving power without the unit shutting down prematurely.

4High-Speed Charging Protocols

The unit features two USB-C ports capable of delivering up to 140W, supporting Power Delivery, Programmable Power Supply, and Adjustable Voltage Supply protocols. Total output across all three ports reaches 158W, enabling simultaneous charging for a laptop, phone, and accessories. It can charge an iPhone 17 to 50% capacity in 21 minutes.

5Versatile Recharging Options

Users can recharge the 100D via a 140W USB-C wall charger, a 100W car charger, or a 100W solar panel. Solar charging achieves an 80% charge in approximately 1.7 hours. When used as a desk hub, simultaneous input and output are capped at 100W each to maintain thermal stability during heavy usage cycles.

6Longevity and Performance

Jackery utilizes LFP battery cells rated for 3,000 cycles before capacity drops to 80%. This lifespan equates to over eight years of daily use. Compared to the previous Explorer 100 Plus model, the 100D offers increased output and cycle counts while reducing the overall weight by approximately 0.26 pounds for better portability.

7Market Positioning Analysis

The 100D enters a competitive landscape, facing rivals like the Anker Solix C200 DC. While competitors may offer higher capacities, they often exceed the 160Wh limit for spare baggage, restricting travel utility. Jackery targets the specific niche of users needing reliable power for airport gates, remote workspaces, or daily mobile device maintenance.

8Retail and Availability

The product is priced at $99 at Walmart starting November 15, with Costco offering a two-pack bundle for $179.99. Jackery also lists the unit at $119 on its official website. This aggressive pricing strategy positions the 100D as a practical, everyday tool rather than just a backup device for emergency power outages.
