Ripple Expands RLUSD Stablecoin Settlement Across Brokerage and Banking Infrastructure

Partnerships with DriveWealth and Cross River Bank integrate dollar stablecoins into financial rails.

1Dual Institutional Integration Push

Ripple secured consecutive infrastructure integrations with brokerage provider DriveWealth and fintech-focused Cross River Bank. Both collaborations center on Ripple USD, known as RLUSD, on the XRP Ledger. These agreements target capital bottlenecks across international securities brokerage and traditional commercial banking rails without forcing clients to build bespoke blockchain pipelines.

2Bridging Brokerage Settlement Windows

DriveWealth supplies trading infrastructure to more than 100 global partners, including fintechs and digital wallets. While the brokerage enables 24/5 market trading, legacy cross-border bank transfers lag behind. The integration uses RLUSD to fund collateral accounts in near real time, addressing liquidity friction exacerbated by the U.S. T+1 settlement cycle.

3Phased European Settlement Rollout

The DriveWealth rollout begins with European settlement before expanding to the United States. Operations rely on Ripple Mint, introduced on July 23, for token issuance and burning. The stablecoin is backed one-to-one by cash and U.S. Treasuries, supported globally by Ripple's regulatory footprint spanning over 85 licenses.

4Custody and Institutional Financing

Beyond settlements, DriveWealth is adopting Ripple Payments and exploring digital asset custody in Europe alongside Standard Chartered's recent XRPL custody rollout. Both firms are also exploring equity financing via Ripple Prime's Delta One unit, specifically evaluating equity derivatives and total return swaps tied to underlying U.S. equities.

5Unconfirmed Brokerage Rollout Timelines

Despite the structural agreement, DriveWealth has not disclosed specific live deployment dates, transaction volume targets, or which specific downstream partners will adopt RLUSD rails. Firm executives will present further technical details during a fireside chat at the annual Ripple Swell conference in New York City on October 28.

6Regulated Banking System Gateway

Concurrently, Cross River Bank embedded RLUSD and the XRP Ledger directly into its core banking system. Known for providing banking-as-a-service infrastructure to digital asset firms like Coinbase and Circle, the bank enables corporate clients to execute stablecoin transactions alongside standard wire and automated clearing house transfers.

7Unified API Against Fragmentation

Cross River connects ACH, wire transfers, and RLUSD settlement through a single technical interface. This design eliminates the operational burden of managing disparate payment intermediaries for round-the-clock international capital movement. However, the bank clarified that these stablecoin services remain restricted to a limited number of U.S. states.

8Consolidating Digital Dollar Rails

The simultaneous integrations demonstrate how stablecoin issuers are embedding dollar tokens directly into clearing, treasury, and banking pipelines. Instead of operating as standalone trading assets, digital dollars are becoming background collateral mechanisms, compressing cross-border settlement latency across conventional equity brokerages and state-regulated banking environments.
