The panel features 1920x1200 resolution, 24-bit RGB color support, and 10-point multitouch capability. ## Technical specifications The display delivers 400 cd/m² brightness with 35ms touch response time. Compatible with Pi 5 and Compute Modules, it requires four DSI data lanes. The device includes dedicated mounting points on the rear for easy installation. ## Setup requirements The screen requires Raspberry Pi 5 with February 2026 or later firmware on its EEPROM. While setup is straightforward with ribbon cable and power connection, the device isn't suitable for humid environments. ## Software support Raspberry Pi OS provides 10-point touch and on-screen keyboard support. However, the OS lacks full touch optimization, potentially disappointing users expecting iPad-like responsiveness from the display. ## Value proposition Priced at $80, the display offers adequate performance for projects despite not leading in brightness specs. The Pi 5 requirement significantly increases total system cost, especially when paired with 2GB models. ## Target applications Designed primarily for information displays, digital signage, and interactive entertainment systems, the high-resolution panel delivers crisp text and graphics while multitouch capability enhances user interaction. ## Sources covering this story - https://www.theregister.com/personal-tech/2026/07/22/raspberry-pi-goes-large-with-101-inch-touch-display-2/5276030 — --- _Summary written by Brifing from the original reporting.
