VITA Vase celebrates every stage of a flower's life cycle

Designed by HOUBI, this vase transforms falling petals into artistic compositions.

1Honoring all phases of life

The VITA Vase embraces not just flowers in bloom but their entire lifecycle from budding to petal fall. Designed by London-based Studio HOUBI, it merges natural life cycles with artistic expression. Its forward-curving profile supports stems' natural movements. Handcrafted in Portugal from glazed earthenware, the vase comes in five vibrant color options inspired by nature's elements.

2Biologically inspired form

Designer Habib Chatti developed the vase's shape by observing plant stems' natural tendencies. Soft stems gracefully follow the curve downward or turn back upward toward light. This dynamic design reveals each flower's unique movement. The balanced weight distribution ensures stability even for delicate blooms, creating living sculptures that change daily.

3Falling petals as artistic elements

VITA's most striking feature is how it incorporates falling petals into the composition. Unlike traditional vases, wilting flowers maintain aesthetic value. The wide base creates a natural frame around shed petals, celebrating both transience and continuity. This approach transforms floral arrangements into evolving art installations, with each day revealing new beauty.

4Color palette from natural elements

VITA's five colors (Poppy Red, Viridescent Green, Sky Blue, Micha Orange, Cobalt Blue) draw inspiration from life's fundamental elements: blood, chlorophyll, water, sunlight, and space. The glazed ceramic surface reflects these hues with depth. Each color complements specific flowers - Viridescent Green enhances orchids while Sky Blue pairs perfectly with tulips.

5Artisanal ceramic craftsmanship

Each VITA vase is handmade in Portugal using traditional ceramic techniques. Master artisans shape and glaze every piece individually, resulting in unique textures. The glazing process ensures water resistance while preserving color vibrancy. This craftsmanship elevates VITA beyond mass-produced objects, offering collectors pieces with distinct character.

6Intersection of botany and design

VITA merges plant morphology with industrial design. Its curve mimics phototropic movements (growth toward light), allowing flowers like peonies and hydrangeas to express natural behaviors. The design helps flowers 'feel at home' in the vase, creating harmonious dialogue between organic forms and human-made objects.

7Limited edition collectibility

Studio HOUBI produces VITA vases in limited quantities, each bearing the designer's signature and certificate. The combination of craftsmanship and innovative design increases collectibility, appealing to design enthusiasts and botanical art lovers. VITA transcends decorative objects to become functional art pieces.

8Design philosophy celebrating impermanence

The VITA project champions beauty in all transformation phases, not just peak moments. Like a modern interpretation of wabi-sabi, it embraces imperfection and transience. This approach encourages users to appreciate nature's rhythms. More than a flower vase, VITA embodies a design manifesto about life's cyclical nature.
