Stellantis Announces FaSTLAne 2030 Strategy for Indian Market Expansion
Twelve new Jeep and Citroen models arrive by 2030 with major capital investment.
1Strategic Shift to Scaling
Stellantis is transitioning from foundational development to aggressive scaling in the Indian market. Under the newly announced FaSTLAne 2030 plan, the company will introduce 12 products across the Jeep and Citroen brands over the next three years. This initiative includes seven all-new models and five major upgrades, targeting diverse segments.
2Investment and Financial Commitment
The company plans to inject approximately 4,000 crore rupees into its Indian operations over the next three years. This fresh capital brings the total investment to 15,000 crore rupees by 2030. Previously, the firm allocated 11,000 crore rupees toward manufacturing, engineering, software development, sourcing, and export capabilities within the country.
3Growth Metrics and Momentum
Business performance is accelerating, with Stellantis India recording 35 percent growth in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the first. Citroen specifically saw a 68 percent increase in retail sales over the same period last year. These figures demonstrate a strong upward trajectory as the company prepares for its upcoming launches.
4Brand Differentiation Strategies
Jeep and Citroen will maintain distinct market positions to maximize reach. Jeep will concentrate on the premium SUV segment, introducing advanced powertrains to capture high-end buyers. Conversely, Citroen will target mainstream, high-volume consumers by emphasizing comfort, design, and technology, ensuring a broad appeal across various price points and customer demographics.
5Multi-Energy Powertrain Approach
Stellantis is adopting a flexible, multi-energy strategy to navigate India's transition to cleaner mobility. The upcoming lineup will feature efficient petrol engines, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles. The company will select specific powertrains based on regulatory requirements, local charging infrastructure, affordability, and the unique economic dynamics of each vehicle segment.
6Localization and Network Expansion
The company aims for 90 percent localization across both brands to improve cost-competitiveness. To support this growth, Stellantis will expand its combined dealer network using the Brand House format. This strategy prioritizes entry into Tier-2, Tier-3, and Tier-4 markets where the company identifies viable business opportunities for its diverse product portfolio.
7Operational Footprint in India
Stellantis currently operates three manufacturing plants located in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, and in Thiruvallur and Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Beyond production, the firm maintains significant engineering and software teams in Bengaluru, alongside an ICT presence in Hyderabad. These facilities serve as the backbone for the company's regional operations and global export initiatives.
8Long-Term Market Conviction
The FaSTLAne 2030 roadmap reflects a long-term commitment to the Indian market rather than a short-term volume chase. By granting the India team greater ownership of regional decisions, Stellantis aims to build scale and relevance. This strategic pivot positions India as a critical hub within the company's broader global operational framework.
