Crawl 2 Cast Announced with Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd
The horror sequel stars two familiar faces from the genre.
1Crawl 2 Production Begins
Preparations for the sequel to Alexandre Aja's 2019 horror film Crawl are complete. Following the first film's $91 million box office success, Paramount has been planning the sequel since 2024. Filming will begin this month in Hungary. The original film told the story of a family fighting off alligators invading their Florida home during a hurricane.
2What to Expect in the New Film
Crawl 2 will be set in New York. Similar to the first film, it will feature chaos caused by alligators invading the city after a natural disaster. While plot details remain unclear, director Aja is known for his interest in underwater horror themes. Aja is also involved in upcoming underwater horror films like Whalefall and Under Paris 2.
3Meet the Lead Actors
Crawl 2 stars Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd in lead roles. Gooding is known for the Scream series and recent films, while Rudd gained prominence through Netflix's Fear Street trilogy and One Piece series. Both actors' experience in the horror genre makes this casting promising for fans.
4Director's Busy Schedule
Alexandre Aja is directing several projects alongside Crawl 2, including Under Paris 2 about a shark in the Seine River and the video game adaptation Dead by Daylight. Despite his busy schedule, filming for Crawl 2 beginning this month shows the studio's commitment to the project.
5Legacy of the First Film
The 2019 film Crawl received critical acclaim, becoming a success story in the horror genre. Despite its modest budget, it grossed $91 million, proving the popularity of natural disaster/animal attack horror themes. Crawl 2 is expected to achieve similar success.
6Other Horror Projects in 2024
Alongside Crawl 2, several other horror projects are coming in 2024, including Under Paris 2, Whalefall, and the Dead by Daylight adaptation. The rise of underwater-themed horror films might signal a new industry trend. Crawl 2's place in this trend remains to be seen.
7The Actors' Careers
Mason Gooding became a horror favorite through his performance in the Scream series. Emily Rudd's career has been rising with roles in Fear Street and One Piece. Their participation in Crawl 2 could be a significant career step. The project's success may influence their future roles.
8Expectations for Crawl 2
Crawl 2 is expected to match the first film's box office success. Director Alexandre Aja's vision and the experienced cast raise hopes for the film's quality. For horror fans, it appears to be one of 2024's significant releases. More details will emerge as filming begins in Hungary.
