Jimmy Fowlie pays tribute to his sister Christina Downer following two recent murder arrests.
1Tribute on Birthday
Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie recently honored his late sister, Christina Downer, on her birthday. This tribute followed the arrest of two individuals in connection with her murder. Fowlie shared a video of their final meeting at a movie theater, expressing relief that legal charges have finally been filed.
2The Arrest Details
On October 30, the Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrests of 41-year-old Delorean Bijon Brandon and 34-year-old Kaylee Nicole Markowski. Brandon, identified as Downer's boyfriend, and Markowski are accused of murdering Downer, disposing of her body, and actively concealing their involvement in the crime to evade law enforcement detection.
3Investigation Timeline
Christina Downer was reported missing on December 18, 2025, after her ex-husband requested a welfare check due to a lack of contact. Initially, Brandon claimed she had moved out, leaving behind her belongings. The investigation shifted to a homicide case after Downer's cellphone was discovered washed ashore on Santa Monica Beach.
4Family Search Efforts
In December 2025, Fowlie publicly sought help searching Downer's Koreatown neighborhood, expressing deep concern for her safety. By April 2026, Fowlie announced that the LAPD had informed the family that his sister was no longer alive, officially transitioning the missing person case into a formal homicide investigation for the authorities.
5Final Moments Captured
The shared video shows Fowlie and Downer posing at a promotional display for the film Tron: Ares. Fowlie noted the night was inconsequential, highlighting his sister's sweet energy and her habit of wearing slippers. He described her as one of his favorite people to make laugh during their shared childhood.
6Comedy Career Roots
Fowlie reflected on his comedy career, suggesting it was born from childhood dinner table antics intended to make his sister laugh. Despite their father's irritation, Fowlie viewed these moments as worthwhile sacrifices. He emphasized his gratitude for their bond while navigating the depression caused by the loss of his sister.
7Procedural Next Steps
The LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division led the investigation into the disappearance and subsequent death of Downer. Detectives are currently preparing to present the gathered evidence to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for formal filing consideration. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to finalize the case against the suspects.
8Seeking Closure
For Fowlie and his family, the arrests provide a measure of relief after months of uncertainty and grief. While the legal process continues, Fowlie chooses to focus on remembering his sister's personality. This transition from a missing person case to a homicide prosecution marks a significant development in the tragedy.
