Nykaa Accelerates Quick Commerce Expansion Following Strong Q2 Profit Growth
The beauty retailer targets 25-city quick commerce coverage as quarterly profits surge by 207 percent.
1Rapid Quick Commerce Scaling
Nykaa is aggressively expanding its quick commerce service, Nykaa Now, aiming for presence in over 25 cities by fiscal year 2027. The service, which currently operates in 15 cities, provides delivery within 30 to 60 minutes. Executives claim their SKU depth is double that of existing competitors, driving incremental demand and repeat usage.
2Financial Performance Surge
The company reported a 207 percent year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit, reaching 101 crore rupees for the September quarter. Operating revenue grew by 28 percent to 3,006 crore rupees. Beauty remains the primary revenue driver, with net sales value rising 28 percent to 2,536 crore rupees during this reporting period.
3Retail Network Expansion
Nykaa expanded its physical footprint to 338 beauty stores across 111 cities, adding 14 new locations during the quarter. Like-for-like sales growth at existing stores reached the early twenties, marking the strongest performance in six quarters. Monthly average unique visitors to the beauty platform increased by 30 percent, reaching 54.1 million total users.
4Strategic Brand Acquisitions
The board approved an 82 percent stake acquisition in Simply Nam Beauty for 33 crore rupees. This premium makeup brand, founded by Namrata Soni, has seen five-fold revenue growth over four years. Soni will remain as co-founder and chief product officer, supporting Nykaa’s house-of-brands strategy to build differentiated beauty and personal care offerings.
5Fashion Vertical Profitability
Nykaa Fashion outperformed beauty in growth rates, reporting a gross merchandise value increase of 42 percent to 1,674 crore rupees. The segment achieved an Ebitda of 1 crore rupees, reversing a 12 crore rupee loss from the year-ago quarter. Ebitda margins improved significantly to 0.2 percent, reflecting better operational efficiency and scale.
6Marketing and Fulfillment Efficiency
Despite higher absolute spending on fulfillment and marketing, Nykaa improved its efficiency metrics. Marketing and selling expenses as a share of net sales value declined to 22.7 percent from 26.9 percent. This indicates that the company is successfully optimizing its customer acquisition costs while simultaneously scaling its fashion and beauty platform operations.
7Customer Engagement Metrics
Average orders transacted per customer rose 26 percent to 22.1 million, while the average order value grew 5 percent to 2,149 rupees. Management attributed these gains to effective customer acquisition, premiumization efforts, and consistent engagement from repeat users. These metrics underscore the platform's ability to drive higher consumption value per active user.
8Future Strategic Outlook
Nykaa continues to strengthen its portfolio through exclusive international launches and partnerships, such as the collaboration with L'Oréal's Bold venture platform. By focusing on house-of-brands growth and rapid quick commerce deployment, the company aims to capture evolving consumption patterns. These strategic moves position the retailer to maintain momentum in competitive urban markets.
