Hidizs AP30: Game Boy-Inspired Portable Hi-Fi Audio Player
This $85 device combines high-quality audio with retro gaming aesthetics.
1Retro Design Meets Modern Tech
The Hidizs AP30 stands out with its Game Boy-inspired retro design. Measuring 68x53x17mm, it comes in 56g plastic and 80g aluminum versions. Featuring a Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chip and RT6863 amplifier, it delivers 137mW per channel and 127dB SNR. Supports DSD256, PCM 192kHz/24bit, and lossless formats.
2Distraction-Free Music Experience
AP30 runs on HidizsOS, a purpose-built operating system optimized solely for music playback. With a physical volume wheel, non-touch display, and simple menu, it eliminates distractions. In 2026, this single-purpose device challenges the 'attention economy'.
3Portability and Versatility
The device can be worn via neck strap, bag clip, or magnetic phone attachment. Its magnetic case snaps easily to phone backs. Supports up to 256GB microSD cards for storing 8,500+ Hi-Res tracks. Features Bluetooth 5.3 for low-latency wireless connection.
4Audio Performance and Specs
AP30 is Hi-Res Audio certified. The 3.5mm single-ended output delivers 61mW+61mW power with 120dB SNR, while the 4.4mm balanced output offers 137mW+137mW with 127dB SNR. Frequency response spans 20Hz-90kHz (±0.03dB). Includes 6 EQ presets, high/low gain adjustment, and 4 playback modes.
5Battery Life and Charging
The 1200mAh battery charges fully in about 1 hour. Provides 10-12 hours of single-ended playback, 8-10 hours balanced, or 6-8 hours wireless. Standby time reaches 60 days. In USB DAC mode, it uses its own battery to reduce host device noise and preserve its charge.
6Extra Features
AP30 includes a Retro Block Puzzle Game and supports eBook reading via microSD. Its HD display ensures comfortable reading or gaming. The whale-engraved backplate symbolizes Hidizs's collaboration with Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC).
7Color Options and Pricing
Aluminum versions come in Pixel Purple and Arcade Black, while plastic models offer Crystal Ocean Blue, Shadow Black, and Classic White. Priced at $85, it's an affordable alternative to $200+ competitors. Only 16 units remain from the 480-unit production run.
8Why It Matters
AP30 delivers pure music experience in an era of distracting smart devices. With competitive pricing, high-quality audio, and playful design, it appeals to both audiophiles and retro tech enthusiasts. Challenges the tech industry's 'more features' approach with focused functionality.
