The campaign attracted over 25,000 donors worldwide. It fulfilled the final wish of FOBBV's former director Sandy Steers, who initiated the project before passing away in February. Steers launched the live cam system in 2015 and served as the organization's resident eagle expert.

The conserved land safeguards not just the eagles but also the rare endemic plant Castilleja cinerea and other wildlife. Targeted by luxury developers for two decades, this pristine lakeside forest will now be preserved for generations, maintaining the region's ecological balance.
