Historic New Orleans Car Dealership Transformed into Cocktail Lounge

A former Stutz dealership becomes a European-style cocktail bar.

1Transformation of a Historic Space

Built in 1916, a former Stutz car dealership in New Orleans has been transformed into a European-style cocktail lounge inside Hotel Perle. The design team used rich materials and collected furnishings to turn the industrial shell into an intimate and inviting space.

2European-Inspired Design

Charles Julia cocktail lounge reflects the warm atmosphere of European homes, unlike traditional hotel bars. Details like vintage rugs, generous drapery, and softened lighting make the expansive space feel more intimate.

3Materials and Textures

The space features oxblood velvet drapery, grape-toned Bruno Rey chairs, and layered kilim rugs. A custom oak bar and locally fabricated Calacatta Viola marble bar add character to the venue.

4Hints of New Orleans

While maintaining a European style, the design also nods to New Orleans' colors. Muted chartreuse, aubergine, and warm gold tones create a timeless atmosphere.

5Rooftop Terrace

The rooftop terrace on the upper floor features a lighter design inspired by Sicily and Southern Europe. Sculptural iron furnishings, woven textures, and greenery blend with the New Orleans skyline.

6Collaboration with Local Artists

The space highlights local craftsmanship through collaborations with New Orleans artists and makers. Hand-painted lampshades, original artwork, and botanical installations give the venue a sense of being assembled over time.
