1Grassroots Development Tour

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has officially commenced a comprehensive campaign tour across the state's 68 development centres. This initiative aims to directly engage with local stakeholders and inspect the progress of various infrastructure projects. The tour began in the Aninri Local Government Area, focusing on Aninri West and North.

2Smart Green Schools Initiative

The administration is commissioning multiple Smart Green School campuses, including those in Amorji, Uhueze, and Agbada Nenwe. Governor Mbah emphasized that these facilities are designed to democratize quality education. The primary objective is to equip children with modern skills necessary to compete effectively within the evolving global economy and workforce.

3Healthcare Infrastructure Expansion

A core pillar of the current administration is the construction of 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, one for every electoral ward in Enugu. These facilities aim to provide essential medical services to rural populations. The government is currently onboarding staff to ensure these centers become fully operational for local residents.

4Personnel Recruitment Strategy

To support the new healthcare infrastructure, the state government has approved the recruitment of 2,250 healthcare personnel. Governor Mbah stated that success will be measured by tangible health outcomes, such as safe deliveries and vaccination rates, rather than just the physical construction of buildings. This reflects a shift toward service-oriented governance.

5Road Infrastructure Targets

The government has set an ambitious target of constructing 10,000 kilometers of roads by 2031. To date, the administration has completed 1,521 kilometers of road projects. To accelerate this progress, the state has established a major asphalt plant in the South East and plans to install additional plants in other zones.

6Agricultural Modernization Efforts

Governor Mbah is pushing to transition rural farmers from manual methods to mechanized agriculture. The state is developing farm estates and providing financial support to women-led cooperatives. By organizing farmers into clusters of 20 to 25 members, the government intends to enhance productivity and add value to local agricultural output.

7Inclusive Development Model

The administration promotes an inclusive development model, ensuring that every electoral ward receives a share of government projects. During stakeholder meetings, the governor sought direct feedback from residents to evaluate the impact of his policies. This approach is intended to prevent any specific region from being left behind in state progress.

8Political Engagement and Support

During the tour, Governor Mbah urged residents to support President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates in upcoming elections. Local leaders, including Aninri Local Government Chairman Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, pledged their support, citing the tangible benefits of the current administration's projects. The tour serves as both an inspection and a political mobilization.

9Sustainability of Infrastructure

Governor Mbah highlighted that education is the foundation for maintaining all other infrastructure projects, such as roads and conference centers. Without an educated workforce, he argued that physical developments would eventually deteriorate. Investing in the youth is presented as the most critical strategy for ending poverty and ensuring long-term state stability.

10Future Outlook and Commitments

The administration remains focused on completing delayed projects, such as the Nomeh-Oduma road, which was stalled by the rainy season. With the weather improving, construction is expected to resume immediately. The governor’s commitment to these infrastructure goals remains a central theme of his ongoing engagement with the people of Enugu.
