Omega Releases Mini Moonwatch Collection
The new Speedmaster models adapt the classic Moonwatch design for smaller wrists.
1Ideal Size for Smaller Wrists
Omega introduces its new Speedmaster collection, offering watches in an ideal size for smaller wrists. The 38 mm diameter models provide a breath of fresh air for those accustomed to larger watch cases from the 1990s to the 2010s. This size is considered the Goldilocks zone for both comfort and style.
2Close to Moonwatch Design
The new Speedmaster models feature design elements close to the classic Moonwatch. Oval subdials have been replaced with round versions, and the Dot-Over-Ninety detail has been added to enhance the design. These changes make the watches more similar to the Moonwatch.
3Two Different Caliber Options
The collection uses two different self-winding calibers. The Caliber 3330 powers six models with date functions, while the Caliber 3332 drives the date-less black dial model. This date-less model is closer to the signature design of the Moonwatch.
4Black Dial Model Stands Out
The standout model in the collection is the $6,500 black dial Speedmaster without a date. This model is the closest to the classic Moonwatch design and boasts a superior bezel design compared to the existing black 38 mm model.
5Nod to the 1980s Speedmaster Reduced
The new 38 mm Speedmaster evokes memories of the Speedmaster Reduced launched in 1988. However, there are some differences, such as the Reduced's 38.5 mm case and subdial layout. The new model leans more towards the Moonwatch design.
6Changes in Subdial Layout
The subdial layout of the new Speedmaster differs from the Reduced model. In the Reduced, the seconds subdial was at 3, the 12-hour totalizer at 6, and the 30-minute totalizer at 9. In the new model, this layout is reversed, aligning more closely with the Moonwatch.
7Dubbed the Mini Moonwatch
The new 38 mm Speedmaster is seen as a smaller version of the Moonwatch. Its proximity to the iconic Speedmaster design and smaller size make it a standout choice for watch enthusiasts with smaller wrists.
8Affordable Price and Accessibility
The new 38 mm Speedmaster is the most affordable black dial Moonwatch model. This makes it an attractive option for watch enthusiasts with smaller wrists, both in terms of style and budget. Omega's move is considered an innovation in the watch industry.
