September Android Update: Find Lost Items, Reduce Motion Sickness, and More
New Android features simplify daily life and offer personalization options.
1Find Lost Items
On Android 16+ devices, you can use Gemini to remember where you placed important items. Commands like 'Hey Google, remember I put my passport in the bedroom drawer' save the location in Find Hub for easy retrieval. This feature is especially useful for items without tracking tags, such as passports or spare keys. Available in supported countries.
2Reduce Motion Sickness
Motion Assist adds a subtle bubble overlay to your screen that moves with your vehicle, reducing motion sickness. This feature bridges the gap between what your eyes see and the motion of your ride. On Android 17 devices, you can customize the bubble's shape, color, and opacity to match your style.
3Image Description
Guided Vision is designed for blind and low-vision users. It helps with tasks like reading food labels, ordering from dimly lit menus, or identifying household items. Voice feedback guides you to reframe the camera if needed. Coming soon to Android 9+ devices in supported regions.
4Shared Notes in Google Messages
Google Keep integration in Google Messages lets you share and edit notes directly in chats. Collaborate on grocery lists or vacation plans without switching apps. This feature streamlines group coordination and keeps everyone on the same page.
5Chat Themes
Customize each chat in Google Messages with unique backgrounds and colors. Use your own photos or select from pre-made themes. Text bubbles automatically adapt to your chosen style. For example, use a latte theme for coffee chats or a beach photo for vacation groups.
