UK-based ConnexAI sued over alleged automatic renewal of software contract

A US law firm claims ConnexAI unlawfully renewed its contract without proper notice.

1Allegations of contract breach

DK Law alleges that ConnexAI's telephone system and AI software did not perform as promised. The software reportedly experienced frequent outages, dropped calls, and unanswered connections. Additionally, WhatsApp integration was claimed to be unreliable and practically unusable. DK Law states it reported these issues to ConnexAI's support team but never received permanent solutions.

2Misrouted calls

DK Law accuses ConnexAI of consistently misdirecting calls. While US-based technical engineers and the UK CTO were dispatched to address problems, issues reportedly recurred shortly after temporary fixes. The law firm claims these operational failures severely impacted client interactions and business continuity.

3AI transcription failures

ConnexAI allegedly promised accurate English and Spanish call transcriptions through its Athena software. However, DK Law asserts the software sometimes failed to generate transcripts, and when it did, they contained errors. Spanish transcription reportedly didn't work at all, hindering customer service operations.

4Automatic renewal dispute

DK Law claims it notified ConnexAI about not renewing their contract in October 2025, but the company allegedly renewed it automatically. New York state law requires written notice for automatic renewals in telecom/software contracts. DK Law maintains ConnexAI failed to provide this notice, making the renewal unlawful.

5ConnexAI's response

ConnexAI dismisses DK Law's claims as frivolous, stating it will respond through proper legal channels. Dan Richardson, GM for North America, noted limitations on public comments during litigation while rejecting the allegations. ConnexAI has separately sued DK Law in New York for alleged payment defaults and contract breaches.

6Legal proceedings

DK Law filed for damages and restitution in California, while ConnexAI pursued claims in New York courts for alleged payment failures. Though related, the cases proceed in different jurisdictions. DK Law argues UK-based Connex One Limited should be included in the California case due to its involvement in sales and support operations.

7Promised features

ConnexAI marketed Athena software with features like sentiment analysis, entity recognition, call transcripts, and training cues through modules like AI Agent and AI Guru. DK Law contends most features either malfunctioned or underperformed compared to representations made during sales discussions.

8Industry implications

This lawsuit highlights complexities in software vendor-client contract disputes, particularly regarding AI solution performance gaps and automatic renewal practices. The outcome could set precedents for tighter industry regulations around software service guarantees and renewal transparency in telecom and AI sectors.
