HyperX’s Open Gaming Headset Proves ANC Isn’t Necessary
HyperX Cloud Alpha Air offers an affordable alternative for gamers.
1Features of HyperX Cloud Alpha Air
The HyperX Cloud Alpha Air stands out with its open-back design. This design allows the 40mm drivers to be exposed, helping the headset to be lighter and keeping ears cooler. These features provide a significant advantage for users during long gaming sessions.
2Sound Quality and Performance
Even in limited tests, the HyperX Cloud Alpha Air delivers impressive sound depth. Its performance in bass, despite the open-back design, is quite successful. The headset is equipped with a special 'Bass Tube' that makes the sound stronger and clearer, significantly enhancing the gaming experience.
3Design and Material Quality
The headset offers comfort with suede-wrapped memory foam ear cushions. This material does not flake like faux leather but may be more sensitive to sweat. Additionally, the open-back design does not include the swappable side panels found in other HyperX models, slightly limiting customization.
4Wired Connection and Compatibility
The HyperX Cloud Alpha Air only offers a wired connection. This allows the headset to connect to PCs and consoles but may require users to use extension cables and adapters. The headset enables EQ adjustments through HyperX’s Ngenuity software, offering personalized sound settings.
5Open-Back Headset as an Alternative to ANC
The HyperX Cloud Alpha Air provides an effective alternative without active noise cancellation (ANC). Especially in home environments where blocking external noise is unnecessary, this headset is quite useful. Considering the high prices of ANC headphones, the HyperX Cloud Alpha Air can be a more affordable option.
6Advantages Over Closed-Back Headphones
The open-back design offers some advantages over closed-back headphones. It is ideal for users who want to hear surrounding sounds. This can help parents hear their children or allow you to hear your partner calling you. However, closed-back headphones may be more effective in noisy environments.
7Price and Value Comparison
The HyperX Cloud Alpha Air is a very affordable option with a price tag of $150. This price offers a significant advantage compared to more expensive models like the Sony Inzone H6 Air and Asus ROG Kithara. It stands out by delivering similar performance in sound quality and comfort at a lower price.
8Conclusion and Recommendations
The HyperX Cloud Alpha Air offers an affordable and effective open-back headset option for gamers. For users who do not need ANC, this headset delivers satisfying performance in both sound quality and comfort. It can be an ideal choice, especially for home environments.
