1Design and Collaborations

Samsung is developing its smart glasses in collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Two different designs will be offered: one with square black frames, the other with round red-brown frames. The glasses look indistinguishable from regular frames but include a camera and microphone.

2Technical Specifications

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, the glasses last up to 9 hours on a single charge. The charging case provides up to 7 additional charges. AI features powered by Google Gemini and Samsung Bixby will offer functions like message summaries and live translation.

3User Experience

The glasses are impressively light, not much heavier than regular thick-framed glasses. Speaker and microphone grilles are hidden along the stems, with a single button on the right and a power switch on the left. The camera includes a recording LED for notifications.

4Privacy Concerns

Like Meta's smart glasses, Samsung's will stop recording if the LED is blocked. However, this measure didn't prevent Meta's glasses from being dubbed 'creep glasses.' Whether Samsung and Google have additional solutions for this 'industry-shared problem' remains to be seen.

5Price and Launch

Samsung hasn't revealed the exact release date or price but confirmed it will be a 'premium' product. Launch is expected this fall. The company also announced that more designs are on the way.

6Industry Impact

Samsung's smart glasses could be a significant step in the wearable tech market. Collaborations with Google and eyewear brands reflect the goal of merging fashion and technology. However, addressing privacy concerns remains a critical challenge.
