1Modular Hexagonal Battery Architecture

Clandestine Design Group developed the Cellcius C-01, a concept superbike utilizing eight swappable hexagonal battery cells. This design mimics honeycomb structures to maximize storage density while minimizing material usage. By allowing riders to load between two and eight cells, the bike adapts its weight and performance profile for specific riding requirements.

2Performance and Weight Scaling

Each 3 kWh cell weighs approximately 10 kg, allowing the bike to scale from 160 kg in commuter mode to 220 kg for track use. With a total capacity of 24 kWh, the C-01 outperforms current benchmarks like the Zero SR/F. This flexibility enables compliance with Australia's Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme requirements.

3Charging and Portability Solutions

The system supports zero-minute hot-swapping via a wall-mounted smart dock for multiple cells. Apartment dwellers can transport individual cells indoors using an ergonomic backpack for standard wall outlet charging. Alternatively, a flush CCS port on the tank allows for fast charging, providing versatile energy management options for various urban living environments.

4Multi-Functional Power Ecosystem

Beyond propulsion, each battery cell functions as a portable power station equipped with AC and USB outlets. This approach mirrors the modular power tool battery logic used by brands like DeWalt and Milwaukee. The studio envisions an aftermarket ecosystem where these cells power various accessories, extending utility far beyond the motorcycle itself.

5Advanced Cooling and Drivetrain

The C-01 incorporates a Venturi effect design, using high-pressure ram intakes and a low-pressure tail exhaust to passively extract motor heat without heavy fans. Power is delivered to the rear wheel through an enclosed carbon shaft drive. This maintenance-free configuration draws on a long engineering pedigree dating back to 1923.

6Digital Integration and Control

A 5G-enabled application manages the bike's digital interface, including keyless RFID or PIN entry systems. The software handles over-the-air firmware updates and performance tuning based on the current battery payload. This digital layer ensures the bike's operating parameters remain optimized regardless of how many cells are installed for the ride.

7Design Recognition and Components

The C-01 received a 2026 Australian Good Design Award in the Concept Design category for its innovative form and function. The bike features high-end components, including Brembo brakes and fully adjustable Öhlins suspension. These specifications position the concept as a serious contender for track-day performance despite its modular and urban-focused design.

8Redefining Electric Motorcycle Utility

By making the battery a central visual feature rather than a hidden component, the C-01 challenges traditional EV design constraints. It effectively resolves the long-standing industry debate regarding the trade-off between range and weight. This modular approach offers a scalable solution that could fundamentally change how riders perceive electric motorcycle ownership.
