Report: Updated iPad Accessories on the Horizon
Two new Apple Pencils set to launch in early 2027.
1New Apple Pencils Coming Soon
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman suggests that two new Apple Pencils will be released in the first half of 2027. These updates will accompany new iPad Pros and MacBook Pros aimed at creative professionals. The upcoming models could offer significant improvements for users, replacing the current versions.
2Codenames and Sources
Gurman's sources revealed the codenames for the new Apple Pencils as B582 and B632. B582 will be an updated version of the standard Apple Pencil, while B632 is the new model of the Apple Pencil Pro. These codenames indicate that the sources have access to insider information about the products.
3Potential Battery System Changes
The EU's new regulations, set to take effect in 2027, require consumer electronics batteries to be more easily removable. Gurman speculates that the new Apple Pencils might update their battery systems to comply. This could address the repair difficulties associated with current models, which are filled with glued components.
4Design and Features
Apple has largely maintained the Apple Pencil design since 2018. The new models might introduce design tweaks or new color options. It's also worth noting that the standard USB-C model lacks Pro features like pressure sensitivity and haptic feedback, which may remain exclusive to the Pro version.
5Pro Model Advantages
The Apple Pencil Pro offers several advanced features over the standard model, including pressure sensitivity, haptic feedback, and Find My support. Apple is unlikely to rush these features into the standard model, as doing so could negatively impact Pro model sales.
6Significance for Creative Professionals
The new Apple Pencils are set to launch alongside iPad Pros designed for creative professionals. This aligns with Apple's strategy to strengthen its dominance in this segment. Users may benefit from improved battery life and easier repairability, enhancing their workflow.
