Soho House transforms Milan's historic cinema into members club
1930s rationalist building to be reborn as luxury social and workspace hub.
1From Cinema to Exclusive Club
Soho House is converting the former Cinema Arti in Milan's Porta Monforte district into a six-story members club. Designed in the 1930s by architect Mario Cereghini, the rationalist building will become Soho House's second Italian location. The project is scheduled for completion by late 2028.
2Preserving Architectural Heritage
The historic structure, built with concrete, brick and marble columns, suffered damage during WWII and later operated as Cinema Arti - Casa Disney. The renovation will maintain the building's original rationalist architecture while upgrading it to modern luxury standards.
3Comprehensive Facilities
The six-level club will feature over 50 bedrooms, workspaces, social areas, wellness facilities and a gym. A rooftop terrace with swimming pool will offer members exclusive outdoor space with panoramic views of Milan.
4Integration with Local Culture
Spaces will blend Soho House's global aesthetic with Milanese cultural elements. Interiors will showcase works by Italian craftsmen and Milan-connected artists. The culinary concept will reflect the city's gastronomic identity.
5Interim Membership Program
Until opening, the Cities Without Houses program will offer Milan-based creatives access to global Soho House privileges. The initiative includes special events and cultural gatherings in the city.
6Boosting Milan's Creative Ecosystem
The project will strengthen Milan's position as a design and creative industries hub. The fusion of historic preservation with modern functionality sets an example for urban regeneration in the city.
