1Cultural Events Announced

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced two major cultural initiatives during her morning conference on November 6th. The Fiesta de Culturas Comunitarias Voces Vivas will take place in the Zócalo, while the Original festival returns to the Los Pinos Cultural Complex. Both events aim to highlight diverse Mexican artistic traditions nationwide.

2Voces Vivas Festival Details

The Fiesta de Culturas Comunitarias is scheduled for Saturday, November 7th, starting at 17:30 in Mexico City's Zócalo. Secretary of Culture Claudia Curiel described it as the largest event within their community arts education program. Over one thousand children from 28 states and 181 municipalities will participate through their local Cuicallis singing houses.

3Broadcasting the Community Event

For citizens unable to attend the Zócalo festivities in person, the government has arranged for a live broadcast. Canal 22 will air the Fiesta de Culturas Comunitarias, ensuring wider national access to the performances. This initiative reflects the administration's commitment to making public cultural programs accessible to all citizens across the country.

4Original Festival at Los Pinos

The tenth edition of the Original festival will be held from November 12th to 15th at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex. Subsecretary Marina Núñez Bespalova highlighted that this event focuses on textile, decorative, and utilitarian arts. It serves as a significant platform for connecting traditional creators directly with the general public audience.

5Supporting Mexican Artisan Economy

The Original festival aims to support 580 master artisans directly, impacting over 12,535 individuals involved in the production chain throughout the year. Organizers encourage attendees to purchase goods without intermediaries, ensuring that profits go directly to the creators. This model promotes fair trade practices within the national artisan and craft sector.

6Artisan Engagement and Education

Visitors at Los Pinos are invited to interact with the artisans to learn about their specific creative processes. By observing how pieces are crafted, the public gains a deeper appreciation for the labor involved. This educational aspect is central to the event's goal of preserving and valuing traditional Mexican artistic techniques.

7Expanded Programming at Original

Beyond the artisan market, the upcoming Original festival will feature new components to enrich the experience. Organizers confirmed the inclusion of Original Lab and a dedicated Original Musical Festival. These additions are designed to diversify the event's appeal and provide a comprehensive cultural experience for all attendees visiting Los Pinos.

8Significance of Cultural Policy

These events represent a strategic effort by the administration to integrate community education with public space usage. By hosting these festivals in iconic locations like the Zócalo and Los Pinos, the government emphasizes the importance of cultural heritage. These initiatives provide a structured venue for artisans to showcase their work nationally.
