ARBREST COVE: The First Office Chair Designed Specifically for Women

Ergonomic innovation meets female-centric design in this award-winning office chair.

1The Problem with Standard Office Chairs

Most office chairs are designed around average male body proportions, forcing women to compensate with cushions and constant adjustments. This leads to discomfort during long work hours. The industry standard fails to address the 50% of office workers who are women, creating a significant gap in ergonomic solutions. ARBREST identified this unmet need as an opportunity to rethink chair design from the ground up.

2Female-Centric Design Philosophy

COVE reverses traditional design by starting with female proportions as the baseline. The chair features 7 adjustable points including seat width, lumbar apex, and footrest offset specifically calibrated for smaller frames. Unlike typical one-size-fits-all solutions, COVE's design acknowledges biological differences in pelvic structure and weight distribution that affect sitting posture for women.

3Innovative Layered Cushion System

The chair's multi-layer cushion system provides targeted support: firm under sit bones to prevent sinking, contoured pelvic support, and softened thigh edges. This unique configuration maintains comfort during extended sitting and accommodates varied sitting positions including cross-legged posture - a common but rarely supported position in office chairs.

4Thoughtful Details for Real Use

COVE incorporates subtle but significant features like a winged headrest for ponytail clearance, wide touch controls for long nails, and 5D armrests that track elbow movement. These details address specific pain points women face with conventional office chairs that designers typically overlook. The sum of these thoughtful elements creates a fundamentally different sitting experience.

5Dynamic Posture Support System

The chair features 12 independent support units along a flexible spine that respond individually to body movements. Whether leaning, twisting, or reaching, the backrest adjusts locally rather than as one rigid panel. This micro-adjustment capability maintains proper support through various working positions throughout the day.

6Four Working Angles with Coordinated Movement

COVE moves seamlessly through four positions (16° forward tilt to 135° recline) with all five contact points adjusting in unison. This coordinated movement eliminates the need for manual readjustment when changing positions - a common frustration with traditional office chairs. The system maintains optimal support through every posture transition.

7Integrated Stretch Functionality

The one-touch stretch function combines motorized lumbar push with reclining backrest and dual-tier footrest movement. This unique combination provides a full-body stretch without requiring the user to stand up - particularly valuable during long work sessions. The feature addresses the need for movement while maintaining productivity.

8A New Standard in Ergonomic Design

COVE represents a paradigm shift from gender-neutral to gender-specific ergonomics. By winning the IFA 2026 Best in Design award, it has already gained recognition as an important innovation. The chair demonstrates how addressing overlooked user needs can lead to breakthrough products that challenge industry norms and create new market categories.
